proper military press - clavicle or chin?

hello.

i've been wondering about this one for a long time.

when you do a military press, do you bring the bar down to your clavicle then press back up or should you stop the bar around your chin then push up?

any difference?

tried both ways and I like stopping at eye level when doing heavy barbell presses, and I go further down when I do dumbbells.
 
the olympic lift starts at the chest. so go all the way down. it cant hurt... unless youre doing too much weight to begin with.
 
For shoulder safety and ive injured both i stop about mouth or earlobe level depending on the size of your ears lol. I can still go heavy no shoulder pain great pump and there still growing so thats what works for me.
