what do y'all think about this program for someone trying to gain muscle in every area such as arms, traps, legs. Could any subtle changes be made? I want to put some size on, but i want my arms, traps, side delts, rear delts, calves to grow also? I really believe this one will work b/c the guy that posted this over at mesomorphosis really seems to be intelligent in this area.

---5X5---
Monday: Squats, Benching, Rows
Weds: Squats, Military Presses, Deadlifts, Chins
Friday: Squats, Benching, Rows

Are u serious?? U're planning on squatting 3x a week, bench 2x, and do back work 2-3x!!?? Maybe i'm just misunderstanding u?? If not, u'd be WAY OVERTRAINING.
Heres what i do, take it for what its worth. Monday- back & abs-deads(use the power matrix program for deads), rows, widegrip pulldowns. Tues- chest -(use power maxtrix program) db flies Wed. legs & abs-calf raises, squats(use power matrix program) Sometimes legs r 2 sore wed. from deads i did mon. so sometimes do them friday instead. Thurs. bis & abs Fri. shoulders/tris- Arnold press or Military press(using power matrix program) bent over raises(for rear delts) Skull crusers, pulldowns/OR weighted dips
I'm no pro at this, but this has been working well 4 me. All I know, find something that works for u, but if u plan on working the same body parts 3x a week u'll be walking around sore as hell and overtrained. Eventually u'll loose strength and maybe even injure yourself. 1 x a week is enough for ea. body part 4 me. I lift heavy though. Trainings only part of it, train hard, u must also eat alot and give your body rest(thats when your body repairs itself and gets stronger).

That's Bill Starr's program and it's actually very effective.

You are not doing 5x5 to failure each time. You are just doing 1 work set and 4 warm-ups with one heavy day, one light day (no work sets, just form) and one medium day.

It's nice because it's all compound work, low reps, low volume with progressive resistance.

Good read. Like i said i'm not expert, just seems like alot of training if u're trying to get BIG. Diff. things work 4 diff. people. maybe u'll have good luck w/it. When I 1st started lifting, I learned alot of things the hard way. I thought u had to work your ass off to get big. I always wondered y I wasn't growing. Well, I was training way too hard and not eating enough. Now, I'm about 40lbs heavier then I was then w/less body fat then I had then 2. I try and pass on whats worked for me, but I'm still learning too.
Guess u can try it 4 a 2-3months and if it doesn't work try something else. I just can't c getting huge by doing such a high volume.

haha bro he had to be fucking with you. That SUCKS and youll probably end up smaller on that one.

he probably just made up the whole thing and spent hrs doing it. He probably never trained any athletes, never powerlifts, bill starr is a fictitious character, never worked out with ronnie, and is lying about everything. They made up the whole website to trick me, darn i just got punk'd.

Then why did you ask on a public forum for people's opinions? Apparently you already had your mind made up.

If you can recover from it, more power to ya. Most people would not be able to.

bill star was an olympic lifter back in the day, not a powerlifter.

his views were cutting edge for the 60s and 70s. i agree in part with some of his ideas but now not all. but thereis no doubt that he knew/knows his stuff.

you guys have to rember that what works for one dont always work for all.

gymmy try the routine and see what happens. it may or may not work for ya. either way you have gained valuable experince.

bill is best known for his views on deadlifting. "if you want a big dead dont do deads". loui falls in that category too. i disagree with this idea but do beleive in not pulling more than 2xmonth, unless it is light weight and working on form.
