proscar imp question!!!!!

i have posted several hairloss threads before but i am not sure of one thing ,,its about proscar ,i have read that u must take it for the rest of your life to have your new hair regrowth ,,well i jsut want to keep my hair that i do have now so i am planning to take it with test during my cycle and post cycle therapy (pct) then stop it as my dht levels will be back to normal so i dont have to use it all my life if i want only to keep the hair that i have ,,right or what

When you are on cycle you are more prone to hairloss because testosterone converts (reduces) to dihydroxytestosterone. The proscar prevents this conversion. When you are off cycle, your test levels are much lower so your dht levels are much lower. If you are losing hair while off cycle and the hair loss is caused by dht, then I'd imagine that you would have to take the proscar for life to prevent dht related hairloss, or until you levels drop with age. I'm tired, I hope this makes sense.

dht levels are supposed to drop back after the cycle and thus no hairloss should take place but i dont know what is the point of taking it for the rest of my life ,,it doesnt make any sense..

Most guys with MPB will still loose their hair when their DHT levels are in the normal range. Elevated DHT will speed up the hair loss. Reduced DHT will slow it down.

Most guys that take finasteride don't even know what Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) stands for and they get their finasteride from the doctor in the form of Propecia.

well i have ran a test cycle before got hairloss when on but none while off or at least very little so i planned to run finasteride with my test only cycle again when on and during post cycle therapy (pct) and then stop it after that ,,so will that be a good idea ,,and if so when should i start the finasteride before my cycle ,,peace ..

You do not need to take it for the rest of your life if you do not have male pattern baldness. You only need to take it during cycle and during post cycle therapy (pct) if you only lose hair from test cycles or any other Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) that makes your hair shed. You will have to take it though for the rest of your life to reduce or stall balding if you have MPB in your family and you are prone to it.

hairloss is not caused solely from the conversion of T to DHT, its the general activation of the androgen receptor, combined with a heireditary predispostion that will aggravate androgenic alopecia
