Push and Pull exercises

Exotic is Erotic...
Can you please explain the difference between a push and a pull exercise and provide an example of each?

What about negatives ??

A negative is the down portion during a push. It works the stabilization muscles.

During a bench or curl when the weight is coming down that is the negative.

During a pull up when you are coming down that is the negative.

Using push/pull method for training is very good...i usually do it at least once a year.

I break it down as say day one would be "horizontal push/ vertical pull"

for example -horiz push: bench press, incline db's, decline, push up etc

vertical pull: pull ups, chin ups, lat pulldown variations etc upright rows, front raises

Then day two would be "vertical push/horizontal pull.

vertical push: barbell shoulder press, dips, "arnolds", etc

horizontal pull: all variations of rows...db's, different machines/handles etc

If I'm looking for more of a circuit type workout...i will super set , or tri set. for example db bench press-pull ups-flys then rest/repeat 3x and move on to 2 or 3 other movements.

hope some of this helps.
