Push Ups

"Who is your Daddy and what does he do?"
Should I add in doing push ups lets say every other day or so, like just 3 sets of 20 or something for a little while to add more size to my chest? Or would i be over training it too much?

I'm trying different things to bring out my chest more, just seeing if this would be a good idea or not.

Thanks.

pushups like like declining pressing, only your using the weight of your upper/mid body.

I'd add in some pushups for the decline purposes and work that lower chest!

i add pushups in between my sets when hitting chest sometimes-- one hell of a burn bro--

i do them with my feet elevated and with my feet flat on the floor-- try changing your hand positions when doing them-- wider ,closer, palms out ward ,palms facing you, have someone apply pressure to your back-- great addition to add in every now and then

I do pushups occassionally with my hands on a pair of dumbells so I can get deeper.

I do pushups at the end of my chest workout days til failure. They say it helps shock the chest after high intensity workouts. I believe that that is the best time to add them to your routine.

Yeah, I do mine on the end of a workout as well.

I plan to try adding them between sets of bench though, just for a little kick.

Yeah i was thinkin at the end of a chest workout might be an alright time to add them in for sure, but maybe i'll do a few sets when i wake up in the mornings through the week or some shit.

This reminds me of a couple years ago when I first picked up the weights...all I did was bench, pushups, curls, and pullups. 4 sets of each 3x a week. I grew like a weed, but that was only because I had never touched weights before.

Yeah, as I said, that is an idea that i highly recommend. And as for the morning idea...I say you save your energy up for your high intensity workouts, and not concentrate on pushups and such exercises in the morning. Usually when I'm finished my full workouts, I'm totally spent and prefer not to do anything else for another 24 hours, which is when I focus on the next muscle groups in my routine. hope that helps bud.

actually yeah that's a good idea.... i think what i've gotta do is try a few things out, it's really the only way to learn about how your body reacts. I'll stick with the after chest workouts and see how that goes, thanks for the tips everyone. i'll let ya know how it went.

try doing 100 in the morning and 100 right before bed. i wouldnt say pushups are good for adding size but they are great for endurance.
start out with 5 sets of 20 then 4 sets of 25, increasing the reps and decreasing the sets until you can bust out a full 100. after that, put some weights in a backpack and do your pushups wearing the backpack. do them on your fists for an added challenge.
