question about this body part

i just wanted to ask how to get rid of love handles or to make your obliques tight, i know some of you guys will say that losing body fat is the answer, but of course as bb we know that in order for us to make a body part in symetry with the others, we should also make it a point to exercise that said part, so with this as a question of debate or arguement, do side bends work? (well since this is the closest exercise, i know, that triggers the muscle in that area) if it does work then will it make the sides of your abdomen large? milos sarcev once said that he does not do side bends since it tends to make his body structure square block in appearance hence not reaching the goal of that v-shape taper. a little more information about this inquiry would be highly appreciated, i am open to any suggestions and comments, it would be better if we would have an open discussion on this one....thanks!
 
The obliques get some secondary training as stabilizers in various movements, just enough work to help prevent strength imbalances that could lead to injury. That's all you really need unless you're a competetive shot putter or something.

To lose the love handles, lose fat all over, and eventually the fat will come off your sides too.
