bros, I have a question regarding newbie lifters and dieters.



My little bro is 5"9 180 has never lifted in his life. He is naturally pretty big for 16. However is bf is 16-17, for a newbie that has never lifted or dieted, if you diet right, can you build muscle and burn fat at the same time?

Or should he go on a cutting diet?

Get him on a beginner workout routine and have him run 2-3x a week. Get the diet right, sleep right, etc, and he'll be putting on muscle while dropping fat no problem.
 
Just teach him solid diet and lifting. At that age and with no training his body comp will improve if he can just avoid most of the junk.
