Recovery: how to optimize it

Hey guys, I am a powerlifter and the day after my legs day, I am exhausted! I normally do not need a lot of sleep. After a leg day, I need 12hrs! I can also develop a slight cough, which tells me my immune system is tapped. I am taking in protein every 3 hours. I ice-up if there is any soreness. What can I honestly do to 1) optimize my immune system 2) speed up/optimize my recovery?

Immune might be aided by herbal supplements like ecinaycae (sp.?) but the answer to #2 I think might be time off or fewer sets

Take Vitamin C on a normal basis and drink green tea all the time - both of these will help strengthen your immune system.

From what I understand, there's not too much you can do for this. This is one of the reasons why you can't go all out all the time everyday. This is one of the reasons for HIT. This is one of the reasons for periodization. This is one of the reasons elite bodybuilders and lifters take gear.

There is only so much your cns can recover from.

I would make sure you are getting enough calories and protein and carbs and sleep. Oh, and gear helps, lol.

i like ZMA before bed i sleep better and i feel that i recover better than when im not taking it just a thought if you arnt already taking

I believe that anyone can see steady gains with proper nutrition and exercise. Throttle Matrix is a great energy supplement. I saw at their site www.myochem.com MYCHEM 2012 is also available now. This is a product worthy of every penny paid and one that has found a home on my shelves!!!
