Restart: Clomid vs. HCG, pro's and con's of each

What are the pro's and con's of using both HCG and Clomid for a restart. It appears most guys on here prefer HCG but I'm just curious as to why.

as stated above both works best. HCG first to see how your testis respond to it then over to clomid to get your lh pumping

Thanks for the replies. My question would be WHY use both? What is the purpose of using HCG and then Clomid? What does the HCG provide that clomid doesn't?

HCG simulates LH which tells your testicles to make more test. But it is suppressive to your HPTA. HCG helps "prime" your testicles after they have been shut down for a while.

Clomid "blocks" estradiol in your pituitary and hypothalamus. When estradiol gets too high, it is the signal that tells your pituitary to stop putting out the LH signal to your testicles to produce more testosterone. Estradiol tells your pituitary to "Stop". So if the estradiol is " blocked" your pituirary never gets the "stop" signal. Clomid is not suppressive.

As you can see, HCG and Clomid act differently and one is suppressive to the HPTA while the other is not.

I am trying to dumb this down so don't take every word literally please.

I just want to add something to my previous post. An analogy is that HCG is to Pump Priming as Clomid is to Vacuum Priming. Hopefully that helps.

Not to beat this topic to death but I'm not to familiar with that analogy (sorry). Is that the same as saying HCG is to a a crank flashlight as Clomid is to a solar flashlight? Sorry but I really want to understand that analogy!
