rotator cuff damage???

hello, here's my condition: I've been swimming for almost all my life, and recently I have developed a chronic pain in what I believe is my rotator cuff (just above the pecks). I cannot bench press anymore without having serious and long time pain, or swim for longer than half an hour.

A friend of mine advised me that my muscles that control the cuff movement are not balanced, and therefore cause the pain to the joint that connects my arm to my upper body. What can I do about this without taking drugs or whatnot? are there a set of specific exerices available to "balance" the muscles? help is very much appreciated.

I had problems from benching. I found out about 'prolotherapy' and had it done to both shoulders. Do some of your own research on the subject. Warning - don't do any cort shots no matter what the docs say!
