the guys I'm talkin about at our meets were average size teenagers and it looked like they were tryin to put on a toddler size under armour shirt. they couldn't put their arms down, and looked like all their shit was being squeezed out of their head, kinda funny if you ask me. and they still weren't benchin over 250.

everyone has their own prefernce but the tighter the shirt the better TECHNIQUE you need..

i can prettty much get into my shirt with no help i just need a tug from the back to get the sleeves where i want them..However once you start sweating in the shirt it will become ore difficult to take off..mine is open back so i just sort of peel it off me inside out..a closed back shirt will be much more difficult to take off

yeah the old style polys where very tough to get on and off.my first shirt took 2 guys about 20, minutes to get it on me. single ply inzer. i benched a whopping shirted 365 at my first meet.

how long ago was that first meet?

5 years maybe. i was over 40, cant remeber the date. i had quit lifting for almost 10 years and hadnt been started back long. saw some PLers squatting at the gym one day and started working in wth them and they said they were training for a meet and asked if i wanted to try it. i said yup. trained with them for a few weeks, did the meet and i been hooked ever since.

one thing i noitice now is too many guys who want to compete waiting til they hit a certain number or making sure everything is perfect before they compete. thats stupid in my opinion. just go do a meet. i trained less than 2 months for my first meet and had a great time.

and are you ready for these massive numbers? single ply meet first go round

squat 625 (missed 650, 4th attempt on depth)
bench 365 (missed 385 3rd attempt)
dead 550 (missed 585 3rd attempt)
total 1540

i won my division at my first meet. it was the USAPL NC state meet. i didnt care if i won or not. i love to compete at anything so i had a blast.

do not let your ego or pride keep you from competing. no matter what meet you go to at the state level there will be lifters of all expereince and caliber.

one of the guys who trains with us on occasion did his first meet last january. he trained by himeself for about 3 weeks and did it. his numbers werent high but he had a great time and earned a lot of respect by doing a meet with so little training. he's doing the apf georgia meet in a few weeks with us. once again with not much training. hes got the bug. a little guy with a lot of heart. he works nights so he has to train by himself. he used some vacations days to come train with us on squats and bench a little to get used to his new gear. he hit a 90lb pr on bench last friday. 90lbs!!!!!!!! he is stoked. he wears one of the single ply rage x closed back. first time in it. 275 bench in jan in a blast shirt and 365 friday. he weighs maybe 160.

he's there on time, loads plates, does what we do, and does whatever we tell him to do with out question. he's clean as a whistle.
