SLDL on leg day??

For simplicity, lets say I do legs on Monday and back on Thursday. For legs, squats, box squats, leg presses, and calf work. For back, deads, rows, and pulldowns. Would it be ok to incorporate SLDLs into my leg workout on Monday, or would it put too much stress on my back before Thursday? I don't want to overtrain my lower back...... Thanks for the help.

Do back on monday, and then legs with sldl's on wednesday.

Thats what I would do. You need your lower back to be very fresh for deads.

Maybe 3 days would be good. My lower back is fine after 2-3 days, and I dead as much as I can. My whole back is only sore for 2 days, but my legs are sore for 5-6 days after.

I would listen to pullinbig though. He is wiser than I. Seriously.

most cannot recoup that fast. you are a gifted lifter goldee. you are blessed so take advantage of it. hows the bench coming?

Yep, my lowerback can take alot, and never stays sore, except for the time I hurt it with sloppy form.

Im stuck at one rep with 405 still. I gotta get it 4 times. I have about 9 months to do it.

I just love deads so much.........wanted to see if I could hit some SLDL this morning at the gym. Pulled deads on thursday and the back is still a little tweaked........thursday was really good. But i guess I'll just stick to what I have until we start. Not too long pb.........you know who has control of this one..........can't change that! :D

if you want to add an exercise for leg day try romanian deadlifts. Keep a tight arch in your back lower the weight and stick your ass out as far as you can when lowering. When you feel your arch is about to break, come back up. The weights shouldn't touch the ground. I would do higher reps as a glute ham exercise.

skip maxxing out for a while . id train hard and maxx again in 3 months or so if i was you

listen to dawgy on this one goldee. should only be naxing out 1 time per month tops. tops!!2 - 3month is better. maxing is a macho thang anyway. doesnt proove anything cept that you run the risk of getting hurt. if you can rep 365 everyone knows you can hit 405 for a single.

405 is the heaviest i have gone raw on flat bench. i did it at the end of a workout just to see if i could do it. it went up easy. i train to lift in gear so raw lifting is more of a warm up or just exercising. maxing is done with several good spotters, strict form and good gear.

goldee with your strength maybe you should try some competetive lifting. it will give you a great foundation for the future if you decide to do a show. in fact this is good advice for all who are thinking of doing a show.

I dont know the first thing about competitive lifting. Where can I train for it?

No. It wouldn't put too much stress on your back, especially with that span in between. Even squats put a stress on your lower back... the best hammy exercises IMO GMs and SLDLs both will work your lower back... it's part of your core strength... it's going to get hammered.

You might consider putting Legs and Back on the same day? That way, you can incorporate your SLDLs into your routine and work your lower back at the same time... and not have to worry if your back will recover.

However, if you are doing Monday and Thursday splits... and you are eating/resting correctly, you should be ok.

there is no rule that says your lowerback and upper back have to be worked together . on back day we place very little stress on lower back , concentrating on the middle to upper portion of the back .deadlifts,goodmornings,etc. are done on a different day
