Small guy wondering if he's over doing it.

I've been working out for a few weeks with my buddy now. I've been doing a lot of reading and am trying to lean as much as I can so I can get the best results. I wasn't aware until I learned on this forum that you can over work yourself. I don't know how to tell if I'm over doing it as I'm new to this and I'm usually soar as hell everyday and just thought that was par for the course. I'm a small guy, 6' and only about 138 lbs as of now. Could you guys/gals take a look at my routine and see if it's okay for my level? I do the most weight I can, sad to say it's not very much. I'm going to save myself the embarrassment and just put the exercise I do and not the weight I'm doing. lol

Let me know what you all think.

I would say you are. Generally, most novices are directed to workout 3 or 4 days a week - sometimes less. Even more important is your diet. I'd head over to the diet forum and make sure that shit is in check.

You are probably not eating enough for that much training. I don't think
that volume of training is bad, as long as your form is not compromised
and you are not trying to lift too much poundage. Your workouts (lifting) shouldn't
take more than an hour. Check out the diet forum, this is where you will learn
about eating for muscle.

It's ok to overtrain, just overtrain for 4 weeks , then 5th week, do same routine, just much less weight, do slow decisive reps, don't go til failure.

This week of low weight will allow you to recover without taking time out of the gym, then, when you go back the next week, you will be stronger than ever.

I think that split is fine, even for a beginner. Overtraining is more than just doing a few extra reps. Over training is a central nervous system response to too much physical stress on your body. Kind of like when you're so overworked that you dont even feel like working out. If you've ever worked out while in an overtrained state, its absolutely no fun. Feels like you're getting sick, and your mood is terrible.

I'd say stick to your routine, but change the rep scheme each week.
