Sodium in canned foods such as soups, tuna, beans, veggies... I noticed alot in soups like tomato soup, chicken soup. Is it bad for you? Or should you limit yourself on canned foods?
Canned foods are not a good diet choice. The sodium can cause problems with bloat and blood pressure. Not to mention that they just aren't very healthy foods.
try to limit your consumption of canned foods. the only kind that I have is low sodium tuna. Other then that stick to fresh veggies for full nutrient benefit.
One note on sodium though, don't let it get too low. I took my wife to the hospital with a high fever from the flu that's going around and they kept her overnight because her sodium was low. I asked the doctor what would cause this and he told me excessive water consumption combined with a low sodium diet is usually the cause, her fever only worsened it. I was really surprised to hear that but she does drink a lot of water.
AQB, thats very true.. we do need so much sodium in our diet for electrolyte balance and bodily functions. consuming foods that have naturally occuring sodium is fine, I just would not suggest high sodium sauces and prepackaged foods in excess.
I was in the hospital for 4 days because during wrestling season i consumed very little sodium and drank a gallon of water a day, the doc said it flushed out my system, and i would have to sta on an IV. Two words, SHIT HAPPENS...thats what my emmotionless father told me
