Some quick questions about carbs and protein before/after workouts

Okay, I read some threads and it seems some people say to have high complex carb and low protein before, and high complex carb, high protein after I workout.

Then I read some other threads that said don't eat any carbs after working out, what's the deal?

On another note, where can I buy dextrose? I've looked all over and can't find a place that sells it.

Thx

i cant imagine why u wouldnt want carbs after
a workout

unless its cardio and your trying to lose fat

dextros is ez to get--use google and type dextrose

its nothing special to buy--but important for post workouts

Funksoldier, Of course you will get many different opinions on this matter but as far as carbs go, post workout you are carb depleated, so it is best to use simple carbs like Malto and Dextrose with a Whey protein so you can use that Insulin spike to force those nutrients into your muscle cells.

If you take in to much fructose post which only goes toward Liver Glycogen stores, when that is filled the rest will go towards adipose tissue. The average BBer has 80-100 grams of Glycogen Liver stores and 400-600 grams Glycogen stores in muscle cells depending on body weight of course.

Pre I like to use Whey, Glut, Vita-E, Vita-C and B-12, for me at least 60 minutes prior...

So if a BB has 400 g of muscle glycogen then how exactely does he burn all 400 g in a workout. I just think that carbs are way overused because they are cheap and most producers of carb drinks and what not know that they can sell this stuff becuae on the surface it does seem to make since that you would need carbs post-workout. I cycle my macro-nutrients have have seen incredicle gains since I started about 2 months ago.

I can completely depleat my Glycogen stores in about two hours of very intense training, of course you never come to 0 due to Gluconeogenesis, but you can get depleated very fast.

Just from 8 hours of sleep you can get depleated if you are not eating carbs before bedtime and have a carb cut off point like I do at 5 pm each night...

Correct me if I am wrong but a mix of carbs and protien is what you want right after training. You dont want a ton of carbs any other time though.

True Post WO I usually take in a 40-50g Protein shake w/ 50-80g of Dextrose.

Hendre, I always have complex carbs prior to training with protein, and simple carbs post WO
