Soreness?

Is the object of our workouts to make our muscles sore the next day or so? If they are sore the next day and day after, does that mean that we did a good work out on them? I did some new exercises in my arm routine that made my bi's and tri's sore for the next couple of days. Obviously I had hit parts of the muscle that I normally don't and/or whole muscles that I hadn't been. When they are not sore anymore, does that mean that they are healed and ready to be worked again? Also, if I normally do heavy weight at 8-10 reps and I don't get that sore, should i do a lighter weight at 15 reps or more in order to get them sore. What is it about "fast twitch" and "slow twitch" muscle fibers? Can anyone explain?..........thanks a bunch guys.

just because you don't get sore doesn't always mean you didn't work the muscle. I would only work a muscle once a week and hit it hard....make sure you give it time to rest and heal.

Constantly change your routine up to keep your muscles guessing.

Fast twitch and slow twitch muscles are just a different kind of fiber.

When my muscles heal, I hit the gym again. 8-10 reps is standard. I do 4-6 reps with heavy weights to failure, and man I am sore every time after that...

Just because u dont acheive doms after a workout doesnt mean u didnt put the muscle under enough stress to cause new growth. Train each muscle group once a week MAYBE if ur legs lag smash them twice a twice .
