squat question

Hey, I have a question on my squats.
I have been doing alot of low rep work the past 3 months, and when I squat I used a belt.

However I am going to be doing 20 rep squats now and I am wondering what I am supposed to do with my abs on squats where I dont use a belt?

Do I not worry about them, and just squat?

do I still push them out and take a big breathof air as if I had a belt on, or do I do something else?

I guess I'm not understanding the question. :confused:

Either your form is good or it's not. But a belt can't correct bad form. That said. I always wear one just because my back is way weaker than my legs. Just a precaution. Makes me feel a little "safer".

As for your abs, I'm trying to picture in my head what I do and I can honestly say...abs are the last thing I'm thinking about when I squat. I'm concentrating on form and moving the freaking weight!

I think a lot of people focus on keeping the abs tight to keep from turning a squat into a good morning. I think.

Hmmm.....interesting point. If I do that it's completely subconscious. I definately am not focusing on it.
 
just squat. on 20 reppers the last thing you gonna do is worry about are your abs tight or not. eps after about the 15 rep.

The 20 repper

Usually around 10 or 12 I think I am done. What you hit that last 10, the weight get racked. your legs give out. You lay on the floor for 10 minutes telling yourself you'll never do that again




Then do you it again next week.
 
cool, thanks everyone you answered my question, I start them 20 reppers tonight.

needless to say I didn't sleep very good last night- right now my stomach is in knots!
 
no, never. do a set tomorow and ill be right down. somethig about a woman that squats tears my nerves all to pieces. esp 20 reppers. that's a sho nuff woman that does those. disserving of an evening with a 300lb juiced up pler.

squat the same way you would with a belt..obviously doing 1 rep you can hold your breathe for the entire rep..

doing higher reps take your breathe at the top of each rep
