Started Androgel A Year Ago - Not Too Pleased

Hey Guys,

So this has been an ongoing problem for me and figured I'd try turning here for advice as it seems to be extremely difficult to find someone who actually knows anything on the topic.

I'm 26 and have had test level issues forever but didn't talk about it with a doc for years bc I was embarrassed about it. At anyrate i had my doctor test my levels in March 2011, my total test level was 236... He checked a few other things and about a month later decided to put me on Androgel, 5g. He rechecked me and bumped me up to 10g a day - the max dose. I continued this all summer and noticed a good reduction in body fat, got stronger and bigger (I was running a lot and doing push ups no real gym routine). I also started get a bit more hair on my chest and arm. This was a good thing as I feel I have been stalled in the late stages of puberty forever!

Anyway I got lazy and sick of going to the doctor all the time because I still wasn't seeing the results I had been hopping for. When not on the gel all my fat goes to my chest and I get man boobs and overall I just don't look that "manly" and it really bothers me, couldn't tell you the last time I had my shirt off at the beach or anythg... I'm super self concious about this and it wasn't get better.

I feel like there may be a bit more going on than just low test levels, kind of feel like the androgel is more of a band ade than a fix... A friend of a friend was in a similiar spot and his doc put him on hgh and all is well now, propblem is Im not friends with the kid anymore and he lived across the country. Anyway I was hoping for some advice on what else I could do to help remidy this. It is starting to bother me more and more and truly interfering with my daily life

Some of the symptoms are man boobs, puffy nipples, lack of muscle ESP defined muscle where my friends have that - eve that aren't in good shape, low sex drive, umm I'm sure there is more... Lack of body hair...

Any ideas? Anyone been in a similar position? I still have my androgel Rx at 10g per month, just moved to a new city so I'll need to fund a new doctor and it would be really helpful if I came in kind of knowig what is going on or what I want.

Thanks a lot guys, sorry for the long post

anytime you come of anything that boost your test you need to do a post cycle therapy (pct) so that the estrogen in your body does not take over you need to restart your bodies natural ability to create text via pregnyl hgc clomid nolva aromasin and arimadex would be good things to research a bit into hgh is a bit dangerous for the in-experienced person to use either way you need to find yourself a doctor that knows his shit about this kind of stuff verse one who is just experimenting on you a well educated doctor would be what i would look into first i dont recommend to anyone to self medicate when you have a real problem

Here are a couple of thoughts based on your post...

1) You mentioned the gel was a temp treatment and not a fix. The truth is, all HRT is a treatment. No HRT protocol will cure hypogonadism. Anyone on HRT is on it for life. If you want a cure, you need to identify a cause of your low test and then see if there is a way to cure that.

2) It sounds like you are judging the effectiveness of your protocol based on physical changes to your body. This is the wrong way of approaching thing. There are far too many other factors that contribute to body composition than to think it is or isn't the gel. Bloodwork is the only reliable measurement and how you feel is the only thing that matters.

3) Based on your symptoms, it sounds like your E2 is too high. Only way to know for sure is bloodwork.

4) Most of your physical concerns can be fixed in the kitchen. Contact 3J and get on the right diet to reach your goals.

dead on

First of all consider yourself fortunate that you got this going when you did; I didnt get diagnosed till after my mid thirties, but the symptoms were there from my mid twentys; you mentioned your "doc" - you need to be seeing an endocrinologist, and have a complete blood workup done in order to determine where you are off balance. At least you got some extra test perscribed; when I first started complaining to the doc, he sent me to a psyc for depression.....being on hrt is a pain, but better than dealing with all the crap that you go thru with lo t without the extra test.
