Steroid Research

Hi all,

In a few days, I am planning on posting a link to a research study I'm working and I wanted to introduce myself first. I've been working with a research team at Touro University for the past year and we're conducting a survey to learn more about people's exercise habits and supplement/medication use. The research should debunk some popular exercise and performance enhancement myths -- and hopefully teach us a lot about current fitness trends and steroid use trends.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks!
-Mike

Hi all,

If you have 10-15 minutes, please take a chance to fill out this survey: Touro University College of Pharmacy- Exercise and Medication/Supplements Utilization Survey

The survey is completely anonymous and will no way be traced back to any individual (or IP address, computer, etc.)

Just so you know our objective with this, we are hoping to get publications with this data about the following:

1. Publish up-to-date information on the drugs and supplements that are currently being used and in what doses.
2. Show that steroid users are generally a very educated, savvy group that put a lot of thought into planning their cycles and PCT.
3. Publish information about the non-addictive (or addictive if that proves to be the case) properties of steroids and the psychological traits of people that use these drugs.

There are a handful of other things we hope to prove, but those are a few of the major ones. I'm not posting this information to influence how anyone fills out our survey, but I wanted to at least let you all know our objectives. There is so much propaganda currently out there, and we hope to spread more accurate information about the true nature of steroids, supplements and the people that use them.

Let me know if you have any questions -- thanks!
-Mike

Hey Mike, glad to have you here. I myself too am a student at a well known university. I've also spent some time doing my fair share of research and will continue to do so.

Thanks for the welcome! Yeah, research is great ... especially when it's something you're passionate about!

Thats a long survey....I quit after 35% done. Got bored...I'll get back to it later.

My thoughts exactly. I just completed the survey, so hopefully it helps. Some interesting questions on there. I'm surprised you actually had DNP listed on there as one of the options.

Yeah, it is long! This is our first survey like this, so we really made it as thorough as possible. We plan on doing this every few years to get the most up-to-date information, so we will modify future versions based on feedback we get.

Thanks guys!

Just did it for you. Where will we be able to see what your studies find? Will it be published in medical journals or articles or on any websites? It will be interesting to see the findings of this.

Thanks! We will get this published in medical and pharmacy journals. I am keeping track of all the forums I post this in, so I'll be sure to update threads as we start getting things published (this will probably be at least six months from now).

Thanks again!

Hi all,

I just wanted to post a quick update: we have about 700 surveys currently completed and 160+ steroid users.

Some interim data:

-Under 10% of steroid users are using insulin for it's anabolic properties (we have a detailed insulin section, so if you use insulin, we hope you'll complete the survey).
-10% of steroid users use steroids year round.
-27% of steroid users don't use multiple steroids at once (i.e., they don't stack).

That is just some really basic data I was able to quickly grab, so I wanted to give an update and thank everyone who has completed the survey.

Thanks!
-Mike

Hi all,

We are getting close to 1,100 surveys taken and over 300 steroid users. Things are looking great, but we can always use more participants. Let me know if you have any feedback!

Thanks all!

Hi all,

We have less than a month left to collect data, so I just wanted to give this a quick bump. I hope you don't mind.

Thanks!
-Mike

Just finished your servey...quite long but interesting...good luck to you!

I just want to let you know that if you are ever trying to do a study on someone taking some kind of steroid..You can count me in!...as long as you provite the gear!

Thanks for taking the time to fill it out!

Haha, thanks for the offer :-) It would be great to do a study like that, but I'm not sure what doses we'd be allowed to administer for the sake of research. Something we may look into if we can get funding in the future.

Hi all,

A couple weeks left for this! If you can, check it out if you haven't already.

Thanks again everyone!

Mike,

A good ,thorough survey. Mike I've done research for a profession for the past 23 yrs (medical, infectious disease predominantly). This is a good study. However, I personally ran into a problem when trying to complete the survey ........ I am now fifty yrs old, I've done numerous cycles when I was younger ( not abusive); problem is I am now on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and have been for several yrs. Believe me Mike, testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) keeps me 30 yrs old and from what I read there are a lot of us out there and many more to come. In future surveys I would suggest seriously considering the # of us old boys out there who use testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) but have also cycled when younger. Steroids long term effects on the body, especially as we age is an area of research that few if any have investigated. Good luck Mike!! Sorry I couldn't adequately complete the survey.
