Supplements cause physical and mental health issues

A blast from the past...OK

I'm for the use of supplements. The study is flawed IMO. Basing your evidence on what people remembered they may have taken during their years in the gym, not accounting for other factors (Alcohol, smoking etc) is not scientific. I don't believe taking in whey protein will cause you any more harm than taking in protein in another form. I don't think creatine or l-carnitine will cause you to fall ill earlier in life. I've see athletes in the gym well into their 60's looking ripped an still going strong. I've also see 40 something year old people who like they're in their 50's or 60's who don't workout, eat any kind of 'workout supplement', and are ready to collapse.

As long as the supplements are the right ones from the right source, tried and true then sup it.

Agreed that this is flawed. Anyone who uses anything inappropriately is going to have an issue. Half way reading this, I pictured a fat guy laying on the ground passed out with an open
Jug of protein powder all over the ground.

Reports like this seem to come out every few years written by some guy who was always picked last at kickball. Or he was 11 years old with giant girl boobs cause he was fat. And who the F is abusing l-carnitine? Maybe Mr Archiro is pregnant, if so I did find this :Pregnancy and breast-feeding: There is not enough reliable information about the safety of using L-carnitine if you are pregnant. Stay on the safe side and avoid use.

At least this wasted 7 minutes of my afternoon

I don't think all supplements can have these effects on people. If they did no one would take them. I do think people shouldn't take them for the rest of their lives because it probably won't be the healthiest idea for their body. But if the supplements are taken properly and not overused, it can be used in a positive way for their body. I agree with synonymous...there are many other factors that contribute to physical/mental health issues like smoking, drinking or abusing drugs.
