I did not my first shot tonight, was not as bed as I though

My question is though , is there an easy way to open the glass amps that it goes in. The first one I tried to open with an amp opener shattered everywhere, the second I tried without the open and I did open it, but the top glass part shattered everywhere, not sure if it is supposed to do this or not.

Any help would be great as it will be really expensive if I break a lot of these.

You just need to be careful with the amp opener, you press to hard on it and it'll shatter the amp. You have to let is cut some of the glass away before you try to pop it open. My friend does that same thing all the time, just be patient and don't just try to pop it everytime.

im right handed, i just put the amp in my left hand in my first and second fingers, hold it firm, put my right hand first finger behind neck of amp, thumb on side facing you, and push with thumb with finger behind amp for pivot point, i know its confusing but if u can decipher that it'll work. i never broke or shatterd one. dont do it fast, slowly squeeze and push. use a washcloth over it ot something thin like a t-shirt incase u break it jagged u wont get cut. your right hand should be like u are opening a bottle water or coke, (thats the grip)

I never used an amp opener but if you have a small file, kinda file a small line around the amp where you want it to break--- you can get a nice clean cut this way--- just file lightly all around and make a nice line--- breaks off alot easier
never used an amp opener I have always just used a file
OH--- wash it off or wipe it before you crack the top off-- don't want any fine glass in there--- it does not take much filing to get a clean break

i take a glass cutter (ace hardware) and score the neck real easy on one side, then place a bic pen cap over the top of the amp, a little pressure and wallah! pops right off every time. cheap and easy.

I've just been hitting the middle of the top portion with a spoon. I've had clean breaks.
