Taken off TRT and put on HCG

Hello friends,

Just a quick question. My wife and i decided we would try have some kids. I have been on TRT for around 6 months now.

DR advised me to stop taking the Testosterone and and put me on 1500 iu of HCG, 3 times a week.

I must admit, i have been injecting the HCG for a few weeks now and am feeling very lethargic.

He has now requested any further blood works.. I will be taking it upon myself to get some done this weeks some time.

Does this sound like a normal regime for someone attempting to have children?

It seems Australia is a different in its views towards TRT etc... Personally i have always found the best advise on this forum....

Seems normal. Either hCG or arimidex mono-therapy.

Check your estradiol. You can get aromatization with hCG. This could be causing your fatigue. Or you may not be making enough testosterone. Check that too,

Megatron my man, I was hoping you would reply :)

Im not taking any Testosterone. He recommended i stop taking it whilst on the HCG.

Aromatization was my first thought, hence i will be requesting some blood works.

The DR's here are happy to put you on TRT, HCT etc... but they lack the follow up part of the treatment..

Thanks for your reply buddy.

Is it normal to stop TRT whilst on HCG? Doc said the HCG will increase my testosterone levels

Anyway OP, I believe you must be mistaken as Australia is notoriously a shit place for TRT... What was your TRT protocol anyway? I'm curious.

You would have been better off sticking with the TRT protocol and adding hCG,not replacing it, will still have made you able to reap the effects of the hCG and Test. hCG will have you shutdown anyway (hCG acts as an LH analogue), yes it will get your testicles producing test/sperm but not sufficiently hence why you are on TRT in the first place (assuming pituitary was not the cause and it was gonadal).

And as Megatron mentioned, hCG as a result of test production subsequently increase e2 levels, so an AI may be needed.

I was shut down for 2.5 years on TRT and no HCG while on. Used it a year and a half after living hypo for all that time off TRT. I used 500 i.u. EOD and 0.25 mg ADEDX E4D....ran labs and results were:
after 5 weeks of this protocol: 384 ng/dl
after 7 " " " " : 482 ng/dl

Felt better than I was at hypo but still not at peak.
The HCG might raise T levels...it's no guarantee though. Just keep on taking it as prescribed. Sometimes it takes a couple months for it to start to kick in cause the leydigs are suppressed/atrophied from in activity. I hope you were using HCG while on TRT as well, as this helps!
Are you secondary or primary ?

Megatron knows you aren't on testosterone.
What he meant was that the hcg might not be producing high enough testosterone levels on it's own.

Also your probably getting some mean aromtisation with that much hcg.
Need blood work

Also you should have just stayed on your protocol and added hcg so you wouldn't have to feel like crap. No big deal, might as well go through with the course. It will be easier off testosterone to get her preggers. Then just hop back on..

The hcg spikes your T and then coverts to esotegen is my understanding of how it works. I know I need to up my AI
a bit with hcg on my trt versus no hcg.
Some people choose to stay on trt when making babies and others prefer to get off for
a bit, get wife pregnant and then go back. Most I've seen do a full restart first. Then their is the fertility side of it where hcg is used. That I haven't read that much on. But sounds like that is approach doc is talking.

How long have you been on hCG-only now?

How long have you been trying to have kids for and how old is your wife? At might dictate how aggressive you want to be with your protocol. If she is young and you haven't been trying very long, I would be more inclined to stay of exogenous test and add hCG. If the proverbial clock is ticking, then you need to take more aggressive measures.

Keep in mind that another option is to go on just arimidex. That will boost your LH, FSH, TT and hopefully get you some swimmers. You would have to take much more arimidex than you would use while on your normal TRT protocol.

Anyway, let us know how the blood work looks.

It lowers SHBG as well which results in more Bio Avail. T

When you are on HCG mono-therapy you should be on an AI. I was only taking 1000 iu twice a week for a restart and took .5 mg of anastrozole with each injection. While taking HCG, felt great even without Testosterone. I would get your bloodwork and see if you need an AI.

I was on 500 i.u. EOD of HCG (Total 1500 i.u./week)
0.25 mg E3D kept my E2 in check...it didn't get below 90 pmol/l
That's optimum!!!
Yes you are right bbbjames but there's endos out there that wont give the off label stuff to their patients...
no matter how much it benefits them.

I didn't have any trouble getting on TRT. In Western Australia, if you get bloods done and it is evident that your testosterone levels are low, they will firstly put you on Testogel for a few months, then start you on injections.

I too am thinking that i should have stayed on TRT whilst taking HCG.

I have an appointment with a specialist in this field next week so i will keep you updated.

I have been on HCG for 1 month now. I am 42 and my wife is 26 :)
Will keep you updated on Blood works.
how long have we been trying to have kids? well we have never bothered with contraception for about 12 months now. However, it has only been the last few months we thought it would be nice to have a Jr WhiteDog.
I am starting to notice now that i feel good for 2 days after my HCG injection, then i crash for 1 day.
Will increase the frequency of injections to every 2 days instead of every 3 days.
I learn more about this topic on this site then my Doctor knows :) I now dictate to him and provide evidence from medical journals to get what i need...
Crazy.. i hope the specialist i am going to see is a little more educated.

You want to run clomid for a month

What benifit would Clomid for a month have?
I have been on TRT for 6 months after discovering my T levels were almost non existent. I don't think a restart is possible.
I will research it and am open to any ideas to benefit my own health and i do appreciate any advise from senior members of this forum :)

Clomid will help in the stimulation of the fsh and increase your volume of production sperm and seimen. Ever wonder how the porn stars can shoot loads that keep going and going. It is from Clomid. We use clomid following the uses of hcg to recover from cycles. HCg stimulates the lutenizing hormone (LH) and helps bring the testicles back to the normal size so they can start producing testosterone and sperm.

You might wanna run HCG first to see if testes will respond...
You either make it or break it on HCG.
Am I right in assuming you are on 500 i.u. EOD = 1500 IU/week for HCG ?
