Taking a week off the gym good for gains? Looking for advice /perspective

If you are feeling run down and not recovering, you will come back stronger.

Sorry I already responded to this :)

There's never an ideal time, from half-wit and my perspectives it's done by feel so can come anytime. Of course, if you don't get to that stage, as you may not train as well as us, then you don't need time off. That's why scheduling a break isn't the best as you may take them when you don't need them, then you've had your break and won't take another, when you may need one.

^^^Yep. Your body will tell you when it's time for a little R&R. If you don't need it then don't bother. If you feel run down, achey, fluey, etc...that's probably your body telling you to give it a short rest. Happens to me a few times a year. But if you train 3-5 days a week and don't overdo it, you might not get the need to rest at all.

I take 11 months a year off from training

At least :) but seriously, like it was said above that your body will tell you when to chill out and take some down time.
Its not a race (unless your competing etc.) so enjoy the time you have put in and benefits thereof.

I always break out my neon spandex when i start to feel rundown and hit the beach to get my down time. View attachment 565605
