Test E and cholesterol meds

I am starting my next cycle in a couple weeks. I am taking test E 750/wk for 15 weeks and dbol 30mg a day weeks 2-6. I have my pct and AI. I was recently told I have high cholesterol and was prescribed meds for this. I was wondering if anyone knew of the effect if any this would have.

Statins, in rare cases, can cause rhabdomyolysis, which means muscle break down. The higher the dosage of the statin the more likely this is to happen, although if not muscle breakdown it can cause cramping and weakness. Hence, statins do have an effect on muscle, and anecdotal accounts suggest it can reduce muscle gains with body building if taken at higher levels. However, if you are on 10mg a day of simvastatin (generic Zocor, or the lipitor generic) you should be fine. Crestor is the strongest one and you probably dont want that one.....

I'm on 20 mg a day. I just started it 2 weeks ago. It's generic Lipitor.

man that's a pretty good amount of testE weekly. how heavy, and experienced are you? just curious.

I'm 34 6'1" at 225 and 15% bf. This is my third cycle. First 2 were test e 500/wk for 12 wks. But it's been about 2 years since my last cycle. Been lifting since I was 17. Tried the test e first about 3 yrs ago.

Did your doctor suggest a change in diet? Statins are one of the worst drugs you can take for something that can usually be fixed with minimal changes to your diet. They also happen to be one of the most over prescribed meds in the US.

Testosterone will influence your lipids, which if you have more tests to judge whether or not your dose is sufficient (statin), could effect the blood test.

exactly... changing your diet will make major improvements to your lipid profile.. getting on a balanced diet is key.. not meds..

take some time and money and get a professional to set up your diet.. not only will it maximize your cycles potential but it will also improve your bloodwork overall.. including lipids.. clients of mine regularly get of cholesterol and diabetes meds..

Thanks. I will do that. Does the amout of test and dbol look ok for my size. My pct is going to be Clomid and Novla. My last pct was just Novla but have heard the 2 together are better.

You may try reading "Cholesterol Clarity". The book speaks to the premise that taking statins is worse than living with high cholesterol, and that in many cases high cholesterol isn't always bad. Take me for example, I have cholesterol of 270 and an impeccable diet. For me, high cholesterol is hereditary and not diet related. My Doctor believes I am better off doing nothing but continuing a good diet and taking COQ10 supplements. His claim is that everybody has a different normal range. I a, not a Doctor but the book is an eye opener

Clomid and Nolvadex are synergetic for PCT .
My cholesterol was high in July . Ate a lot of oatmeal and last bloodwork showed in range .
Add a tablespoon of safflower oil will help. Eating more lentils and watching diet will help .
I drink almond milk with dinner .
Good luck

OK, the clinical data on statins is irrefutable and solid. If you have familial hypercholesterolemia, you should be a statin, it reduces all events CV death by as much as 40% in this population. If I were you DinoTexas I would be on a statin. A book is just one person's opinion and should be held in no higher regard than something you might hear right here, for example. I know this field extremely well and there is no doubt whatsoever that statins reduce heart attack incidence, even in people with normal cholesterol. It also acts as an anti-inflammatory in the coronary arteries to prevent loss of vessel patency irrespective of cholesterol. But, I do not take statins myself because I do not have a family history whatsoever of any CV events, and my cholesterol is always under 160, and I do cardio every day.

Get a Cardiac Calcium Scan. Costs about $100 and can help you decide if you need a statin or not. Painless and quick test.

Moppy1, thanks for the feedback- I certainly am not trying to make the claim that statins are all bad. And I may need them. I tried several and for me the result did lower my cholesterol but it also came with terrible joint and muscle related side effects which literally kept me out of the gym. So which is worse? I'm not advocating ignoring cholesterol, simply suggesting that there is merit in the fact that different people could have different norms that may be on the high or low side of normal by medical standards and be fine. The book is highly researched and the data is worth the additional thought. That's all I'm saying

OK, i hear ya. Did not realize you were getting significant muscle related side effects, which are not all that uncommon. So maybe you can control your risk with diet, but my only point is that if you also have a family history as yet another risk factor, I would not ignore the situation. Try 10mg lipitor or provocal, which is a dosage that often is well tolerated. Some of why statins protect from a heart attack is not even related to cholesterol. It is an anti-inflammatory for the type of event that occurs specifically in the coronary arteries, which occurs more frequently in people with familial hypercholesterolemia. Even genetically predisposed patients on statins that do not get cholesterol lowering when on statin therapy, are still protected from heart attack. As you get older, you should consider.......

I am sure your book has some credible references and data, but I actually work directly in this field and I know all the clinical trials and what are the real data that should be trusted. Not trying to scare you, but just be careful bro.....

I did not do well with statins. Fibrates have reduced my level from 486 to about 260. Still not great but worth it I think.

I'm not convinced reducing lipids with drugs really helps anything but it's cheap enough and I don't notice any sides on the fibrates.
