Test only cycle to keep from losing muscle while on cut?

I've been reading about folks who run test cycles while on a cut (catabolic state) to keep from losing muscle mass.

I very much want to cut down for summer and loose the belly fat. I have a flat stomach but no ab definition. I'm a pretty lean guy overall, but have issues keeping the chub off the stomach and love handles.

In order to really cut down I need to run a caloric deficit. I don't have a heck of a lot of muscle mass and don't want to lose any of it while on a cut. My fear is if I run an aggressive cut to lose the belly flab I will also loose muscle mass and just end up looking anemic.

I ran a 3 month carb cycle with 3J with great results, but my abs where still not defined enough to my liking. I'm going to run a more aggressive cut to really get them to pop.

So my question - small 400mg test cycle with an aggressive cut a good idea to retain muscle mass?

400mgs of test isn't actually small...Depending on how your body metabolises, you could still yield some impressive numbers on bloods..

It seems that in todays day and age that 400-500Mgs is low dose test..The newer generation is pushing this idea when in fact it's quite the opposite..

You can achieve great success with a steady 400 for 12-14 weeks..Get bloods, you'll see what I'm talking about.. whether it's test prop or test Cyp, that's a decent amount brother..

It's funny you mention that - I just got bloods done saturday as I'm finishing a 400mg / week test cyp cycle. Will post results when I get them.

When I say small 400mg dose, I'm referring to a conservative cycle. Not TRT :)
 
You could run 200-250mg/wk and have no issues whatsoever in maintaining muscle mass while cutting. You don't need to go as high as 400mg/wk for this purpose.
 
Agreed I did 200'mg a week just to preserve
Muscle while on a very low carb high protein diet lost a ton of body fat kept 95% of my mass was ripped for my beach vacation

I'd love to see your bloods on 400, this will prove to so many newbs that you don't need much..

You'll be surprise on how much 400 will raise you levels.. It's more then people think.. Less can be more!
 
Interesting stuff here.. I'm in my 2nd week - going into 3rd tomorrow - of test e. I'm running this @ 500mg a week, and eating more towards a recomp, rather than an all out bulk. I'm 5'7", 185 @ 44 years young.

Would it be OK to back down to 400mg test a week now? Or do I have to stick to 500 now that I've started at that dose? I'm planning on doing light cardio during this cycle as well in hopes of burning some fat while preserving the muscle.

Awesome ! This is just the info I was looking to find. I'm good with dropping the dose to 200 to save test and ultimately $$.

I'm a big beleaver in just enouph rather than overloading.
 
I agree, it does nothing.. I mean, by theory and on paper one would think.. But, in reality and what has been tesedt/tried and true proves otherwise!
Everything is easier on juice, but it's not always best in the long run.
Unless you are on trt, I feel you would be better running a pct after a cycle and once your HPTA is recovered start your diet.
