Im 18 and i ended up going to the doctor because i am always tired, dont feel agressive enough, and im in the gym working out hard and just dont see any good muscle gains. i had a couple blood test run and my overall testosterone was 374 and my free testosterone was 114. These are on the low end of the scale but my doctor will not prescribe many any testosterone cypionate so i am thinking about taking 400 mg per week for a 8 week cycle. Should i do this, are there any major risks i should be concerned about. i already know about some serms and inhibitors for post cycle therapy (pct). Any response would really help!!!
Hi Killerkirt45,
I can relate to what you are going through. From even before your age, I suffered from the same symptoms. Years later, and after a lot of growing up, I started going to the doctors more often and getting bloodwork done.
Anyways, I have Low-T as well, and am ANXIOUS to start my first cycle, as a test run to see how my body handles it and if I can hopefully kick start the boys down there with some clomid maybe. But before I proceed, I will be getting a full blood panel done, assuming my doctor will do it. Here is what I recommend:
First, go to the doctor, and demand to get all of this checked:
Total Testosterone
Bioavailable Testosterone (AKA "Free and Loosely Bound")
Free Testosterone (if Bioavailable T is unavailable)
DHT
Estradiol (specify the Extraction Method, or "sensitive" assay for males)
LH
FSH
Prolactin
Cortisol
Thyroid Panel
CBC
Comprehensive Metabolic Panel
Lipid Profile
PSA (if over 40)
IGF-1 (if HGH therapy is being considered)
You need to first know whether your issue is secondary or primary hypogonadism. You can't really tell for sure without bloodwork. Do this immediately, and after that, *this is important, get in the habit* ask for photocopies and then post your results on here. Once people know what your values are, we can all start getting a better idea of what's going on. Someone above mentioned seeing an endocrinologist, but don't hold your breath. Most endo's, from what I hear, are useless, and as a matter of fact, last week, I saw the first endo ever, and the guy was a complete idiot. He tried to prescribe me viagra and even claimed my levels, which are very similar to yours I'm thinking, were 'Normal'. Anyways, not seeing him again. Got gear ready to go, but I want to hold off for at least a few more weeks and get me some bloodwork just to make sure I know what's what. Research is very important as you don't want to be going in blind messing with your hormones, especially at your age when you're still uncertain of everything.
Keep us posted! Good luck!
