the difference between "complete" plant proteins and animal proteins? Anyyone?

I find its actually a bit cheaper to eat meat free but CAN surpass the meat cost depending on how/what you buy. specially eating out.
it takes some getting used to but you could work with budget, like you would with meat. cheap chicken breasts or grade a++ steaks, there is room to play with even meat free.

I deff agree more work, specially when getting used to it, then it just flows.

man now im hungry, im making today:

tandoori masala flavor dish with
fresh frozen peas, carrots, limabeans
fresh onion, grated carrot, garlic, parsley, basil, okra, sweet pepper, corn
3 chopped up veggie chicken breasts (soy and gluten based protein, love gluten) *gluten isnt bad forvyou if you dont have allergy*
2 tbs margarine
4oz olive oil

served with rice (cooked with some curry powder in it and diced onion and garlic)

yummy!!!

I just made tempeh hash the other day. I used organic tempeh because soy is heavily gmo and loaded up with round up herbicide on top of various pesticides.... but my research into organic soy has me feeling that it's almost impossible to get it organic... it's like 95 % gmo grown worldwide!
But I buy organic.

So Juced.... how bout you lay out the recipe for that there tandoori?!
Sounds outrageous.

In the meantime I gotta go eat some steak :)

and yes i know "but plants are alive also" argument, yes there is a life force, but the capacity of awareness, thought and to feel things is not the same as say a dog or cow, in my opinion. and so is not a fair comparison.

That reminded me of this quote - which has nothing to do with the subject other than your post reminded me of it and it is quite funny.

If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

- Jack Handy

i hate your kind.... you betray your sharp teeth.. damn veggies :D
Yeah i am a vegetarian for about 12 years or so now an pretty much vegan for the last 3 years. (ill still use some whey mixed in my 60-80%rice/5%soy protein powder and if there is an egg used in say a cake or loaf of bread ill still eat it, not pref though. but i wont/dont eat eggs at all, dont eat cheese (rarely if its in dish sure) and no meat or fish. )

It is very doable, even without eggs (chicken period/abortions ,, no thanks lol)
the thing is many vegetarians/ vegans think that just because they cut meat out of their diet that they are healthier, eating better and are better than everyone else... and thats not true. you can be a very unhealthy vegetarian, id say its pretty easy to be that way without meat if you dont do any research and make no effort to eat well.

its not as simple as just cutting meat out and boom your eating better.
I mean yes i do feel its healthier to be meat free while eating right and knowing what you are doing, but that is not a given and a meat eater could easily outweigh healthiness levels of a non meat eater.

there are alot of "complete proteins" in alot of veggies but also alot that you could simply mix. like beans, broccoli and carrot chilie (with added veggie ground beef is nice too, more protein)
there are alot of meat substitues also that help you enjoy meals you may have been used to. like chicken breast or even meatballs and pasta. but these substitues should be researched and used with caution. one brand might have a healthy alternative for say sliced cold cuts while another company making the same thing could be full of artificial flavors, colors and preservatives. just because its meat free doesnt mean it cant be over processed like junk food. - knowledge it power here.

I generally limit these substitutes regardless, but its nice to boost protein content and/or flavor of the food.

that along with 1-3 protein drink a day with a snack should meet your needs. its totally possible to do without meat and even without eggs.

i rec a b12 supp and a whole food extracted multi v/m to everyone (but extra recommendation of the b12 for veggie heads)

make sure you take in alot of healthy fats, i add olive oil to almost everything i eat, great stuff IMO. if you keep your fats up, protein up and food combinations with carbs in mind you should have no issue keeping carbs med and feel full throughout the day.

I'm average when it comes to nutritional knowledge and I understand what a complete protein is however the plant kingdom DOES have some complete proteins.

what exactly is it that makes vegetarian (NOT VEGAN) bodybuilding so frowned upon? For example quinoa is a complete protein that is not from animal products. What makes this less beneficial to tuna or chicken??

Tofu another complete protein.. Why is this worse than steak when it comes to building muscle? I understand massive vegetarian bodybuilders out there but they are also on the juice.

Or say a vegetarian got 80% of his protein intake from egg whites.

If you have not gotten the hint I was a vegetarian for the longest time and only started eating meat to put on some muscle. I REALLY want to go back to being vegetarian but not if it completely cripples me..

Why would a diet of mostly egg whites and some dairy (replace some rice meals with quinoa) be so crippling to bodybuilding? Can someone explain this please?

I'm what you would consider a nutritionist Snob.. Not really but I have studied nutrition and the most elite levels from a completely supplemented and enhanced perspective to Raw natural. There is conclusive data by blood analysis that is so profound that you will never second guess the fact that a diet of Naturally farmed pesticide free Raw high in natural fats animal proteins raw milk a dairy rich in minerals vitamins lots of vegetables with fermented foods is best. Go study the work done by Sally Fallon and Weston Price foundation. The blood Rust analysis comparing an healthy 87 year olds on the weston price diet to the blood fo a healthy 23 years old vegetarian is profound. The 87 years old had been on the weston price diet for 25 years.

You are what you eat. Grass fed naturally farmed meats, chicken and dairy. Soy free GMO free, pesticide free. mostly Grain free.

Steak chicken Lobster Eggs cheese butter and raw milk and vegetables for me please with raw butter and cream.

I had lots of friends who were vegheads for 6, 10, 12 and one girl 15 years all get deathly sick and had to go back to meat. Some do it for humane reasons some just prefer vegetables. It's a lot easier to get a good diet without meat not than is was 20 years ago. You rarely see vegetarians strong and vital in there 40's and 50's

The truth is a soy free grain free pastured egg is almost a perfectly balanced food. The omega 3 - omega 6 fatty aides are properly balanced. the protein and vitamins levels are double that of a factory farmed egg. If you didn't know it Omega 6 is responsible for inflammation.

I just seeded one of the lakes on the ranch where we have our Cattle with Duck weed. It has a protein content of 40% and doubles in size every 48 hrs and produces thousands of seeds. I'm hoping to feed this to our cows. I understand it is consumed in salads in the far east.

I never truly understood this until I ate some beef at a friend's house. They own a small farm and butchered the cow themselves. The taste was so strikingly better than I would have ever expected!

Back in my highschool days my dad and uncle used to go halves in a cow and get it butchered at the local butchers so me a a few of the boys would leave school as soon as we got there in the mourning stop in to the local bottlo grab a few beers and throw a few steaks on the Barbi did that for almost 2weeks straight good times

Most people don't like the grass fed beef at first. they like the sweet steak they was fed GMO corn. It's basically sugar. The meat on the bone with rich marbled fat in Grass fed beef is where it's at rib roasts and bone in rib steaks T-bones. I eat prime rib as often as I can afford to.

Just out of curiosity what do you guys down under put on your steaks? I drown mine in A1 sauce ;)

Tabasco or a bit of roast beef gravy always dose the trick for me ill have to give the a1a try or just throw a few prawns or shrimp as there called on top or even an egg and a sliced up tomato there my go to dressings haha

I eat my steaks without any sauce, I like the way the meat tastes all on its own (if it is seasoned properly prior to cooking).

Sounds awesome! : P

well i dont usually follow any recipe, when cooking something new i look it over and follow the basics and tweek to my vibe on the dish and comes out awesome 95% of the time. But ill law out how i kinda go about it:

rice:
3 cloves of chopped garlic and half a diced onion and 1tbs curry and/or turmeric powder into a small pot heated with 1oz/shot of oil, sizzle for 2min and add 1 cup of rice stire and let cook for 1min.
add in 2 cups of water, turn up heat to high until it starts to boil and turn down low and keep at low simmer for 10min. turn off and fluff up 5min later.

Dish:
boil 4-5 med size potatos and about 5-6 carrots chopped up (large) and boil for 10min on high.
add in 1-2 cups oo frozen veggie mis (peas, small carrots, lima beans, corn) *also add in 2-3 cups of TVP ( dried textured vegetable protein) depending how i make it* and boil for another 10 or so min.
take it all out of pot through a pasta strainer and let sit in sink.
back to main big pot add in 1-2ov oil and 1 chopped up onion simmer for few min.
add in half of the tandoori spice powder or cooking sauce *depends on taste but i like alot of it* and i also add in extra 2 tbs of curry powder. stir up onions and spices and add in the veggies you have in pasta strainer and a chopped up sweet pepper. add in the rest of the tandoori spice/sauce, 2tbs margarine and stir and put at a med heat and let simmer for 15min.

optional:
Ill use a veggie chicken breast sliced and chopped in place of the TVP sometimes.
Ill add in okra (its great if cooked right) on top of the dish when served- Okra: slice okra up into say 6 slices per okra, about just under 0.5inch each. slice up 2-3 big cloves of garlic add it all to a hot frying pan and fry until going crispy and some black spots arising , move to side and add on top of dish when finished.
I also serve i with some fresh heated naan bread alot of the time also, if carbs not issue that day.

thats about how i do it, i alert it here and there but thats the jist of it. : P

Sounds good I cook from the heart too. I just don't eat the rice much anymore. Starches make me bloat. I'm still trying to drop another 15 pounds to.

I have actually been adding smoked paprika recently. I LOVE the taste of it and it smells divine!
Sea salt and ground black pepper is all you need. If you buy a good cut, and prepare it the right way....you won't need anything else ;)
A1 is the best for stakes shake your head and wag it all you want.
I tell people ahead of time, if I cook you a steak, and I catch you putting A1 or anything else other than what I seasoned it with, I will take it away. That is offensive. A1 is good to drown shitty steak in but if I cook a nice Tbone or NY strip and you put that dirty A1 on it, you do not deserve to eat steak. ;)

I'm loving all the talk off grass fed beef, organic, grain free, etc. But the shit is soooo expensive. How do you guys get around it? Or do you happily fork over twice to three times as much cash?
