The Fountain of Youth - Growth Differentiation Factor

Researchers from Harvard and Stanford universities published three studies today showing that substances in the blood of young mice rejuvenate the muscles and brains of older ones. A previous Harvard study suggests the same happens to their hearts.

"Their fur looks better, they groom better, they seem to do overall better," said Tony Wyss-Coray, the lead scientist on the Stanford study, to be published in the journal Nature Medicine. "To us it's just so surprising, that something so simple has dramatic effects on every tissue in the body that's been looked at."

WILL THIS WORK ON PEOPLE?

Hrmmm, so I need to find a young candidate to staple to my back...

This research looks very promising! I'm definitely interested in seeing where further studies go regarding this newly discovered substance.

I totally missed these articles!

I'll be following these developments closely!

With the amount of injuries I've been picking up lately - any compound that heals the body faster has to be considered!

Ok, I know we are not allowed to ask for sources - but I need to know which of our sponsors carries GDF11!!!!!

:D

In case it was not obvious, I was joking...

EDIT: I just did a google search - you actually can already buy GDF11. I had no idea.

GDF-11 is a myostatin-homologous protein that acts as an inhibitor of nerve tissue growth. GDF-11 has been shown to suppress neurogenesis through a myostatin-like pathway, which involves the arrest of the progenitor cell cycle in the G1 phase. Similarities between myostatin and GDF-11, which are 90% identical in their amino acid sequence, suggest that the regulatory mechanisms responsible for maintaining proper tissue size during neural and muscular development might be the same. Recombinant Human GDF-11 is a 25.0 kDa disulfide-linked homodimer containing two 109 amino acid polypeptide chains. It is highly homologous to myostatin/GDF-8, sharing 90% amino acid sequence identity.

Not saying to buy it - the study has not even been done on humans, but the price is VERY high! 1mg $3,900.00 I am also assuming recombinant is required vs synthetic.
