I agree that if you don't want kids, estogen is too hard to control while taking hcg, and don't care about your nuts shriveling up; then personally i would drop Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) also.. I think it's a tough call to make..

I just did a quick search on pregnenolone.. The article says that preg is the precursor to all other hormones.. So, if you drop hcg; you
might want to supplement your protocol with preg.. Very interesting..
I'm going to spend a little more time researching this

The Following is Chip Wadowski's post

preg is the "mother of all hormones". I wish i could track down the post that i put up a long time ago about the benefits of preg, but i just don't have the time to search it out or re-write it. It was a pretty informative thread, though. Preg, basically, clears the way for all other hormones to be used more effectively within our bodies.

I copied and pasted this from another thread which was old.. I feel this can bring in some good discussion/education..
I know the format is horrible but it's the best I could do.. This discussion is stemming off of someone saying, "there is really no need for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) if you don't want kids in the future".

Does anyone agree with this and, if so, do you supplement with pregnenolone?
Any good articles?

I take preg it's some good stuff. I get an energy boost after taking it. preg is a neurosteroid too...maintains the nervous system. For me it feels like taking 50mg of dhea + cortisol. I take 50mg once a day source naturals brand.

About 2 1/2 wks ago went off SSRI's I'd been on for the last 17 years. Big time SSRI withdraws! Started taking pregnenolone about a week ago and wished I would have taken it sooner. Helped out the withdraws lots. Better mood and slight increase in a dead libido from the preg. Looking forward to starting with Chip and getting my life back, but first I need to get my head together from all the SSRI's these fkng doctors have over-prescribed over the years. :flamingma But that's another story....

Hang in there - you're almost there. You taper off or go cold turkey? Going cold can be rougher but testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) will definitely make it easier.

glad to hear the preg is helping you.. I think it probably shows that your original problem was hormones and not neuro? Best of luck and stay in touch w/ a doc while getting off that stuff..

The more I read on preg, the more I realize that I need to get some and supplement my protocol.. Adrenal fatigue is a fairly common side effect of TRT.. Preg seems to pevent that.. However, if you're on hcg, then you're still producing preg bc you didn't shut off your testes.. So I figure if you can't handle Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) estrogen problems then at least supplement w/ preg.. Any thought?? Am I way off track here??

Tried to taper (like I tapered with Klonopin), but I wanted to go off so badly that I rushed it. 200 mg to 25mg in 3 weeks, but just went cold turkey on the last 25mg. Nasty withdraw symptoms, and still have the SSRI foggy head and no libido. So it's been pretty rough the last few months, but it will be worth it when I get dialed in.

Think I found the Post. Great info from Chip....

Pregnenolone is a natural hormone produced in the cellular mitochondria from cholesterol. It is the hormone from which all steroidal (sex) hormones are made, including androstenedione, DHEA, estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. Pregnenolone is thought to improve mental function and mood, and research indicates it may also be useful for treatment of PMS, arthritis, and stress.

Because pregnenolone is the precursor of all steroidal hormones, it has been suggested that boosting the body’s pregnenolone levels through supplementation will offer the same health benefits as taking multiple hormone supplements. Preliminary research suggests that pregnenolone supplements may indeed offer some of the same benefits as DHEA supplements and hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Like DHEA and Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), pregnenolone has been reported to help slow the symptoms of mental and physical decline that are a natural part of aging. In fact, in one laboratory study pregnenolone was found to be 100 times more effective for memory enhancement than any other steroid or steroid-precursor.

Pregnenolone used for the treatment of arthritis since the 1940's, when it was first discovered that it was effective against joint swelling and inflammation. Pregnenolone has also been used to treat symptoms of depression, fatigue, and anxiety, and is sometimes sold in combination supplements containing other natural hormones noted for their ability to promote sleep ease mental distress, such as melatonin and DHEA.

Some people swear that pregnenolone is a sort of fountain of youth, and that these supplements can help you lose weight, build muscle, increase your sex drive, and restore youthful vigor; however, such reports are anecdotal (not scientifically proven) in nature. In addition, it is impossible to determine which hormones will be stimulated by pregnenolone supplements; taking too much could theoretically upset your hormonal balance, leading to unwanted side effects such as breasts in men or facial hair in women.

Pregnenolone supplements are available in capsule form at most pharmacies, health food stores, and online distributorships. Pregnenolone is also an ingredient in many combination supplements that claim to fight the effects of aging, promote sleep, or increase mental function. Daily doses range from 25 milligrams to 600 milligrams per day, depending on the condition being treated.
