time to move on?? out with the 3 a day, advice please

ok , at the moment i am doing the *cough* 3 day workout, i have been doing this for the past 8 months, and now i have decided to go for a 4 day split, the question is, will this help me get shredded too, i found with the 3 day although i have added quite a lot of mass, i have also added some fat, "maybe from giving up smoking 8 months ago?" also anyone ever use the joe weider 4 day split??? looks like pretty intensive, which is what i want now, if you got any suggestions let me know, thanks in advance
