Which do you think is the most effective and least catabolic?

1. A cardio session immediately following a weight training workout
2. AM cardio on an empty stomach
3. AM cardio after drinking 20g of whey
4. Cardio session just anywhere in the day, it doesn't matter

Also- better to split cardio and training days, or OK to do both on the same day?

Thanks for the help guys- I need to start cranking the cardio soon and I want to get the most of it! Show is April 3rd!!!

#3 and split the cardio and lifting days. But if you do cardio after you workout then all your carbs will be depleted, so your body would tap into your fat stores.

This is gonna be hard question for people, alot of people have different methods.

If you can do the cardio in th morning having had only a protein shake before, and then the same day train with weights in the evening. Cover up your back and eat enough protein during the day not to enter in catabolism.

If you cannot do this, train with weights first, so you use all glucogen in your muscles, and then do the cardio, at low intensity(50 -65 % heart rate) fot at least 30 to 40 minutes (low intensity burns more fat than higher rates).

Mos important not to destroy the muscle is protein, no doubt.

I've been doing route #3 for only a week now, but it's working well.

#2 supposedly doing cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stumoch is the best way to burn fat. But I think its probabley a great way to burn muscle as well.

If your trying to get lean its important to do cardio at least once if not twice a day .Getting up early in the morning and doing cardio works best for me I get up at 4:30am drink 2 or 3 cups of coffee Black no cream or sugar i use splenda then get on the treadmill by 5:00 am for 45 min at a speed setting of 3.4 . as soon as i get off i eat my morning meal of 7 egg whites and 1/2 cup oatmeal , then do what ever i got to do in the morning head to the gym by noon . Then i do Cardio at 8:00 pm for 45 min at a speed of 3.4 at a 6 to 12 % grade then i follow it with my nightly protein meal 7 eggswhites. I have found the earlier you get up it give you more time that you can burn fat also if you do cardio twice a day when leaning out you will burn twice as much fat . Just make sure to take in enough protein so you dont burn muscle .

Hey r3ver3nd who told you not to do Cardio ? Cardiovascular
training is essential for optimum growth its like doing squats . Dont think just because your huffing and puffing during your workouts its enough .

BAD IDEA g32!!

The reason why caffeine makes u more awake is b/c:

It constricts your veins and blood vessals, forcing the heart to work harder to circulate the same amount of blood, therefore increasing your blood pressure.

DO NOT drink caffeine before you work out, try to avoid it =\

Your energy in the morning to work out should come from a healthy diet and lots of REM sleep.

i drink caffeine before every workout , it makes me more productive and helps burn fat . All my freinds that workout do the same , one friend of mine is a personal trainer now for 10 yrs . and has told me on countless occasions to drink coffee in the morning before my workouts . He has won several contest and owns his own personal gym where he trains his clients , maybe he's wrong . If you think hes wrong what type of medical studies can you provide that support your statment or what type of personal experience or experiences support
what you say , i am all about learning please go on .............

I always have caffeine or ephedras before I train/workout...always. It isn't dangerous, it helps excite the CNS, liberatescalories for fat burning, etc...it is one of the most common practices known in bodybuilding. g32, I'm with ya, bro!

I've always been learly of starting a caffeine routine or ephedra. The only reason is, because if I start I wont be able to go back to not using it.
