Recently I have started weighing my meat fresh before cooking it and then weighing it again after its been cooked, something very interesting happened, the meat on average lost arond 1/3 of its original fresh weight!
Here is what I tryed:
180g chicken breast fresh, 120g chicken breast after it was cooked (loss of 60g!)
230g lean minced steak fresh, 150g lean minced steak after it was cooked (loss of 80g!)
OK so heres my question,
When the manufactuers say there product is say 24g protein per 100g does that mean if you cooked 100g of chicken breast that it would still contain 24g protein OR do they mean 24g protein per 100g AFTER it was cooked.
I hope the nutritional values dont apply when cooked as this is a HUGE loss in protein and will mean I will have to rethink my diet
