I'm 5'11 and just around 170pds I don't know my body fat.
I'm trying my best to bulk up. I've been eating like a maniac for the past week also just finished my bottle of whey protein and haven't really gained anything. Maybe a pd. I just started going back to the gym 2 weeks ago. My goal by the summer would be a weight of 190-200pds of lean muscle. I've read through the threads and took some advice here and there. But I would like some personal advice. I just orderd a weight gainer... here's the link http://www.bulknutrition.com/?products_id=377 it was recommended from a post I read. I'll also be taking for supllements creatine, whey protein, vitamins, flax oil tabs. Hopefully it'll help me put on a couple of pds. and then by spring time I'll start to cut up. What YOU think? :biggthump

lotsa sugar in the weight gainer, which i personally try to avoid.

i would recommend that if you want those 20 pounds by summer that you start eating shitloads of steak, eggs, potatoes and peanut butter.

the flax tabs are definitely a good start, but i would recommend that you look into the flax oil in the bottles (you can mix it into protein shakes if you'd like) -- it contains more of the stuff you're looking for (essential fatty acids) than the caps.

good luck.

yeah a lot of people try to avoid sugar and whole milk... why is that? Wouldnt whole milk be fine for someone like me trying to gain weight?

Whole milk is one of the best things you can cansume for gaining weight it has protein fat and carbs lots of cals.

ya if you are a lean guy and your trying to bulk, eat whatever the hell you want just make sure your protien intake is high

Peanut butter + milk

This has helped me a great deal in what I've gained in the past.

You said "lean muscle." Unless they also have strong Mesomorphic tendancies, even Ectomorphic types have their limits to how many shit calories they can take in them becoming chub and a pregnant looking midsection. Keep that in mind. Keep an eye on your waist size, the scale and the caliper readings.

Whole milk mixed with whey, honey and natural peanut butter is one of the best "weight gainers" you can take, in my opinion. It contains plenty of CALORIES made up of both slow and fast proteins, slow and fast carbs, and healthy fats as well as the beneficial saturated animal fats from the whole milk. It can be cheaper than most commercial weight gainers and tastes damn good to boot. Throw in some solid whole-food meals and a liquid solution of whey and either dextrose, gatorade or grape juice for immediately before, during and after workouts, and you'll be set as far as diet is concerned.

I agree:) You have to take like 15 caps of the flax oil to get what is in one tablespoon of flax oil.

I would also you had a couple servings of oatmeal in there as well. Oatmeal is a great source of complex carbs.

Try peanut butter with crackers around your workout.
Otherwise, peanut butter with apples tastes great and has good fiber. Plus you are geting some fruit in you.

Liverwurst is also very good. I grew up on it, some can't handle it.
This on crackers or whole wheat bread is delicious.

Whole milk is definitely one of the best things you can add to your diet to help you bulk up. A couple of years ago, I drank a lot of milk and was able to put on a lot of weight. The guy I train with and myself decided to have a contest, who could put on the most muscular bodyweight in a year. We both lifted heavy on the 20 rep squats or super squats program and we both drank a gallon of milk every day in addition to our regular food. The results were phenomenal, we both put on a lot of weight and most of it was muscle. Drink a lot of milk and get a motivated training partner to challenge you. You will literally blow up with muscle.

Lots of eggs, lots of lean meat, a gallon of whole milk everyday, and lots of green vegetables to aid with digestion, simply the best overall diet for bulking.
