TT number your trt wants for a target

I am banned!
Just got bloodwork done and I'd dialed down my cycle dose so my doc didn't freak out. She knows I handle my "trt" on my own. I consented to her bloodwork request for overall wellness, Cholesterol etc.
Anyway my TT numbers was 821 and she freaked out wanted it down to 300 ng/dl. I asked her if she wanted to castrate me. According to her the 800's is "just way too high".
Now mind you I have mild congestive heart failure due to a defunct aortic valve that has been replaced. I feel great with no other side effects.
Just wondering if test numbers that high can affect my overall health, particularly heart health. I met with my heart surgeon 2 hours before my gp doc anc he knows about my trt protocol yet didn't even mention if during our visit.

I'm under the assumption test levels don't create health problems on its own, but the side effects can be detrimental. Mitigate the sides and there no problem
Am I totally out to lunch here?

821ng/dl is well inside the normal range for TT. 300ng/dl would put you at hypogonadal levels. There is a lot of medical evidence out there that being hypogonadal is very bad for your heart.

Now, blasting to supraphysiological TT levels may not be good for your heart either given your heart failure. It can put additional strain on it that will tax it harder over time. I would be hesitant to do this if I were in your shoes.

I'm advised to keep a TT of 900-1000. I generally run from about 850-950.

300 is... Uh... Not ideal.

Thanx guys for quick replies. My gp doc is no Einstein, as I had to explain to her why I wanted my estradiol checked with my blood work. I asked the lab for a copy and would gladly share when I get it in the mail. My creatinine was high(1.61) and gfr was just under the range. Total chol was ok, but ldl was 130 hdl was just out of range.
I'd been blasting for a good time, and really should give my body a Break.
I was thinking of 125 mg test cyp, 125 mg deca, 100 mg mast enth e5D. Does this sound ok? I'm 47.
The chf diagnosis came prior to my valve replacement surgery. I feel fine most of the time. The meds I'm on slows down my hr. Heavy squats and lunges get me breathing hard. When I do cardio it's really tough getting my heart rate over 130.
When I get insurance coverage again ( run out jan31) I want to get another echocardiogram to Check my ejection fraction.

you should be more worried about your blood thickness.. whats your hemo at??

It was fine. I donate blood to my toilet every couple months thru self phlebotomy.
Although my mcv was out of range. Doc prescribed ferrous sulfate 325mg

christ.. you do self phlebotomy?? ballsy

I get that a lot. I'm on warfarin (blood thinner) so they don't want my blood. I don't see much of a difference whether I stck myself or someone else does it. I use a 16 ga needle( prolly could go with 18) and screw it on the syringe then discard the plunger. 10 minutes later- all done. The first couple times I did this my wife was in the bathroom with me just in case. But never had any issues

As long as I'm within range, my doc is happy. Sorry man, but any doctor that recommends 300ng/dL has no clue and should bow out of trying to help manage hormones.

As Mega stated HYPOgonadism is the threat, not physiological values. Sure, blasting for long periods of time may take a toll, but if you get regular checkups and are willing to pull the plug on a blast if you're entering dangerous territory, I see no issues at all.

Oh, and I agree with 3J, you guys that do self phlebotomies have brass balls. I know how to do it, but it's so different when doing it to yourself!

My .02c :)

I maintain at just around 1000-1010. I'm also with a doc that specializes in TRT, and monitoring all hormones and ********* indicators. So, he is definitely on board. He saw my test numbers come back and said he had no issue with them as long as I felt great. If I didn't, then he'd question exactly what we are trying to accomplish. He's focusing on getting my calcium and magnesium numbers up. For some reason raising these levels is very hard for me, even with high dosing of calc, and mag. Always had a problem with getting my good cholesterol high enough too.

Other than that he has no issues with the number though. If I was at 1300 he might question it, because that's superphysiological levels and that's not what he's aiming for (Although my TRT doc is jacked, especially for his age. He has competed as well. I know he does test, and growth hormone therapy, but I'm guessing he's cycled as well)

I would recommend only cruising on Test. You need to let your kidneys and everything else get a rest.

Good call. Probably gonna change my lifting protocol as well. Maybe a Little more volume , but less weight. I already have mass, just need refinement more than anything

Is this a GP ?
Look at Free Test as well. Do it on a private lab. Not her req.
so you see where you are at Free T levels and TT of 800's

My insurance company (CareFirst Blue Cross/Blue Shield) just started a new policy that they will not pay for test prescription if total test exceeds 800. Doctor must verify that it is below 800.

I like to keep my test trough levels at least 900. Needless to say, I will reduce injections just prior to a blood test.

My doctor is OK with total test levels at 900, but wants free test to be in range. If my total test exceeds about 600, my free test will probably be above range.

IDK what your copay is, but mine is pretty close to what it costs to get generic Test C from walgreens with this coupon. Testosterone Cypionate - Prices, Coupons, and Information - GoodRx. I'd rather not fuck around with my levels over a few dollars to make some insurance company bean counter happy.

My doctor doesn't get too caught up in the numbers, it's more about how I feel. He's pretty flexible and doesn't obsess over reference ranges.

That being said, my total and free T are at the top of the reference ranges right now. Free T was actually over on my last set of labs. Going to bring it down a hair to see how I feel.

I'm still fairly new to TRT so I'm still kind of experimenting to see where I feel best.

Targeting a number is just bad medicine, its called a reference range for a reason. Its a guide, not the be all and end all. Good doctors treat how a patient feels. Bad doctors treat a number in a book because they can't/won't think for themselves.

My bloodwork didn't come with a free test number, just total.
My ldl was 141, hdl 26 so my doc put me on lipitor, triglycerides were good at 60.

Blood number were mostly just a little ascew

Mcv 76 (80-100)
Mch 23.8 (27-34)
Mchc 31 (32-35.5)
Lymphocytes abs 0.8 (1.0-3.9)

Hemotocrit 47.5 (39-50)
Rbc 6.25 (4.2-5.7)

Low MCH and MCV and high RBC: I bet your iron is low. Have you tested ferritin? Are you supplementing iron?
