Hey guys. Just wondering what your opinion on high vs. low glycemic carbs is. Do you really notice a big difference in energy and fat gain between different types of carbs? I can easily eat potatoes everydays but I am completely sick of yams (sweet potatoes) and oatmeal. I was thinking about makin the switched to mashed taters or baked....

Just wondering,

Thanks.

There is a huge difference between sugars and complex carbs, but the difference between regular potatoes and sweet potatoes isn't nearly as big. I see no problem with regular potatoes.

Maybe somebody has some more specific info on the GI of the two types of potatoes.

<<<Include sweet potatoes: These are a great substitute for white potatoes, as they have a lower glycemic index (GI), which helps with blood insulin levels and ultimately influences the amount of calories that may become stored later as fat. Sweet potatoes have a GI rating of 53*, while white potatoes have a rating of 121 (the higher the rating, the greater the potential for a faster rise in blood sugar levels).
* The standard reference used is 100 (the GI of white bread).

If you still want some potatoes buut with a lower GI try "New Potatoes or Baby Reds" they have a GI of 56-69 where Yams are -/=55
