Var for running

So I started running 2 months ago (exactly) and have actually run 90 miles already! (Fantastic coming from someone who avoids running like the plague). I used to work out at lunch but in 30 minutes I couldn't get much in... cardio for weight loss and then there's no time for weights and I didn't feel GREAT about my workouts. So I started running. I have already lost 12lbs... more so in the last month + because I was compensating calories when I first started. About 2 weeks ago I started running var for endurance. 10mg tab, x1 a day. I know I should split them but they're kind of powdery and be frank... a b*tch. I also run it with 2 need2slin pwo. On long distance days I run a stim like jack3d or NTKTS but for the most part I stay away from all stims. I was diagnosed with a panic disorder in Jan and my body just can't handle that crap too well anymore. So anyways... I am not really feeling an overall increased endurance. Is it too soon? Is my dose too low? I've run 10mg before lifting and felt good but this is a different purpose altogether. I am also not petite.. 5'10..yah yah yah. I take the var first thing in the AM... is that too early? Also any other ideas on how to help myself out? When I first started it was cooler out... easier to manage. Now I am running in 85o, high humidity and I really need to find a way to push through this and get through a good summer of runs.

red tabs - ugl. I could probably figure out the source but sometimes ignorance is bliss.

I never had much of an increase of endurance on var. But when I ran primo I did.

I would keep it at 1/2 for a few more weeks and see how it goes because I see results with 5 mg.

MEL.... WE NEED PICTURES... RETTY PLEASE:yumyum:

Yeah I've been on boards long enough to not be that gullible. :)

Thanks DET and blondie... I am going to give it a few more weeks and if still nothing, I might peg it at under dosing... the price to pay for UGLs I guess.

I've done some... not a huge amount of research on Anavar (var) for running. It seems to be an endurance booster... now whether that be for someone starting to increase... or a marathoner who wants better time... I dunno. The articles didn't tell me that much.

Blondie... how would you compare Anavar (var) and primo? I have never done or considered primo but I am pretty serious about this weight loss and running. One day I'd like to run a 1/2 marathon... so this is something I would consider in the distant future...

Only consider primo if you want to put on muscle mass. If you want more stamina for running there are better options. Clen works well for better cardio endurance and can have an anabolic effect after some time.

Interesting, as I understand it Anavar (var) tends to impact the cpk cycle, helping with endurance with things such as weight lifting, and sprinting. With the exception of the enhanced recovery properties, i can't see the benefit for distance training. In what aspect do you feel your endurance is lacking?

I am just trying to find something to help push me over the top. In hot weather I hit my limit at 3.5 miles... in cooler weather about 5 miles. It's not that I am out of breath or have sore muscles... I am just exhausted... like my body starts to slow down and if I don't push myself to the beat of a song... my legs would just stop running altogether LOL

I understand completely what you are talking about. Ambient temperatures have an effect on your training protocols, as they are an environmental stressor. I don't feel that anavar will be of much benefit to you. On the contrary, I feel as though it will be counterproductive, as the increased cpk formation may lead to some gains in body mass which will work against what you are trying to accomplish. I think your biggest concern should be to load up on electrolytes, and shoot for maximal hydration.

What is your current running routine?

It varies depending on what my work schedule is... plus it's summer... business trips, vacations, campings.

A good week looks like this:

Sunday: 3.5 miles
Monday: 4.5 miles
Tuesday: 3.2 miles
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: 4.5 miles
Friday 3.2 miles
Saturday: Rest

An alterative second best (and most common schedule):

Monday - Friday: 3.2-3.5 miles each day
Sat/Sun: rest

I know I should have a rest in there but I find it difficult to run on the weekends (I have small children and a husband that travels) so I run on my lunch break.

I always bring water with me... I don't drink before I run. I drink 1L while I run and 1L when I return. If I drink too much beforehand I cramp up.

It wouldn't necessarily bother me if I had increased muscle mass. Although I can see where that would make me work twice as hard by default.

If your goal is to run a 1/2 marathon or a marathon, most people utilize a short run, long run strategy. Meaning they do a long say 5-7 miles one day, then they will do 3-4 shorter distance runs. So a schedule might look.

Mon 6 mile run
Tues off
Weds 2 mile
Thurs 3 mile
Fri off
Sat 2 mile
Sun off

That is just a basic outline, which may or may not fit your schedule. But, if you are looking to increase the distance you run, you need to reduce your volume slightly on the other days. Trying to run max distance everyday is like trying to squat or deadlift your max weight everyday. The body needs time to adapt to the stimuli you give it.

Oh, I would also consider taking in some electrolytes 3-4 hours prior to your run. That should give you enough time to utilize them without cramping.

I just finished a 10 week cycle and I never really noticed much of an increase in endurance of running. I seen some...but I am not a huge running fan either. I was more focused on weight training
