Very fast weight gain, no changes in diet

Hi there! I've been trying to do a lean bulk for like months and just could not gain weightg whatsoever eating 6 meals a day (first for carbs and protein last 2 fat and protein). I kept the same diet cause I did not want to eat more than that, it's already a pain in the ass. Now for some inexplicable reason, within the last 3 weeks or so I have gained about 5 pounds changing absolutely nothing in my diet or activity levels (I go to the gym 4-5 times a week). In a way I'm happy because I wanted to bulk but at the same time I'm pretty sure I've gained fat at that rate, plus I use the bioimpedence machine for the upper body at my gym (technically it is a valid tool to monitor a weight gain or loss) and it consistently indicates that I've gained about 1,5-2% bodyfat. Anyone has an explaination for this sudden weight gain? And what should I do, keep gaining lik ethat or try to lose the fat that I've probably just gained?

What exactly are you eating and drinking? And at what times of the day and night?? How's your metabolism?

what about your salt intake??did you start taking any meds or supplements??

I almost always eat the same stuff, oatmeal and protein shake in the morning then around 12:30, 4:00 and 7:30 some brown rice veggies and some lean meat (horse, beef or chicken), then around 10:30 a huge salad with some cheese and eggs, then right before bed, some caseine proteine, a bit of cheese and nuts.

interesting.. if thats right it implies your ********* speed has slowed down a bit...

I highly doubt his metabol-ism has adapted at 3,000 calories, certainly not enough to justify 5 pounds in 3 weeks.

2 things come to mind:
- It could be something known as the "whoosh effect".
This happens mostly to guys who are cutting wehere they lose no weight for 2/3 weeks then suddenly drop 10 pounds overnight. I have seen guys go through a similar thing on lean bulks but it tends to slow down - are you still gaining or more stable?

- I suggest you get some bloodwork just to make sure there are no underlying causes concerning your thyroid, test levels, e2, etc. How has your mood been during the last few weeks? It could indicate something else going on.

No meds, same supplements as before, protein, bcaa's and creatine.

hmm thanks for the info! I didn't notice and changes in my mood.

And it's weird, the exact opposite happened to me a bit over a year ago, I dropped like 8 pounds changing absolutely NOTHING and it seemed there was nothing I could do, then I stabilized around 175 for a year and now I'm about 180

This is very true. Had it happen. I know my calorie intake to an exact, not around in about as some. I was cutting recently, and just stopped losing fat (weight) for about a month, didn't change a thing in my diet because I was already under 500 maintaince. Then in less then 10 days dropped close to 10 lbs. Very weird..
