my brother is 145 at 5'6 and cant put on weight to save his life.....the highest he has ever weighted is 160...

he can bench 215 3x10

he mostly works out his uper body and goes to the gym 3 times a week any advice?

eat, eat, eat. Tell him to hit is lower body hard since they carrie alot of muscle mass.
Eat very very high carbs and high protein meals every hour, that will pack on the mass.
Whats his current split look like?
What rep range does he train in?

***How much protein daily? (1 gm per 1 lb of body weight)
***How many meals daily? (minimum 5)
***Does he spike his insulin with high glycemic carbs in his post recovery shake? (glucose/dextrose)
***Does he have a Post-recovery shake after his workout?
***Does he get enough sleep?
***Does he drink enough water to allow his cells to carry out their biological functions such as repair, waste removal, etc?
***Is he doing too many sets/too high of reps?
***Is he allowing his secondary muscles to fully repair as well as his primary muscles? (for example, working out chest on Monday, then shoulders on Tuesday is hitting your frontal delts twice in two days; therefore, not productive...)
***Does he drink a lot of alcohol as this decreases Natural testosterone dramatically?
Is he taking phosphatadylserine or Glutamine to decrease the affect of Cortisol (catabolic) which is released during physical or mental stressors?
Lot of factors, bro. Don't give up.

I would try to eat high protein, high calorie meals, every 3 hours. There was a show on Fox Sports the other day about the Pittsburgh Penguins minor league hockey team. They had as their #1 draft pick an 18 year old kid who was like 6'5", but thin as a rail. Other than hitting the weights, the strength trainer fior the club told him to eat as much Mc'Donalds as possible. High fat. High protein(depending on weather or not you actually believe that is real Beef), and WAY WAY high calorie.

honestly my experience has it that milk usually does the trick drinking an extra 2 to 3 classes of milk a day should add some weight as well as training the legs hard but that is just my experience
