So many types out there it's sometimes hard to know whats good or now. All I've ever used is the whatman .2, 25mm ones and found them good.

Does membrane type matter? I'm looking into getting some acrodisc glass fiber filters... will they work?

thanks!

any PES is decent for most needs. If you have something with visible impurities, you would be best to run your liquid through a pre filter of sorts. A coffee filter is a cheap version. Some science stores have fancy pre filters that cost much more.

If your liquid looks clear but you just want to be sure..maybe its cloudy and you want it crystal clear, use a 0.45 glass or nylon filter. some may have a prefilter, some may not. it may be a 25,30mm etc which describes the diameter and this simply describes how easy or hard it will be to push the liquid through.

Basically, any 0.45 filter you find on a small research site will fit your needs. If you purchase a 1.5 or a 1.0, your end product will be cloudy. If you purchase a 0.22 micron filter, it will work great, but will be very, very hard to push. Like a drop every five second. You will be hating yourself.

We have filters on our site. Both 0.45 syringe filters and also larger vacuum filters for larger volumes.
