What weight loss products actually work?

My fatass younger brother can't loose weight. Before you guys say something like, TELL HIM TO GET OFF HIS FATASS AND DO SOME DAMN CARDIO, or something, let me finish.

My bro works out with me and we both run together. He is 28% bodyfat and I'm 11%. We both run at least 5 miles a day and do extreme cardio, since we are both running backs (except I play college and he plays highschool). He can really run, can do a mile in a little less then 7 minutes. But for some reason, with proper diet and running his ass off, he just doesn't seem to loose weight.

Is there anything that will help him? Like Stacker 2 or Trimspa or some shit like that? Keep in mind he is only 15, so nothing that could be dangerous to his young age. Thanks.

He has a good diet. I'm not on his ass about food cuz I don't live with him, and neither are my parents, but from my knowledge he eats good. He has one shake a day, after his workout, and avoids heavy calories. We both hate fast food and avoid shit like that.

Maybe your brother should come on the board and talk to us, instead of using you as a middle man.

Yeah but he's 15. I've seen a 14 year old come here and be banned immediatley so whats the point of signing my bro up on these boards?

If he is running 5 miles per day and can run a mile under 7 minutes, I don't think he is quite 28% bodyfat. Doesn't seem to make sense to me.

If he is running that much, and he is still that "fat" he really needs to revamp his deit.

In all honesty, I really wouldn't be messing around with a 15 year old. He still has some growing and maturing to do. Let him be.

Well he told me in school when he took the body fat test in physical education, he was 28%. I know those tests can be quite innacurate but he is still really fat which nobody understands cuz he is the best athlete in his highschool.

I commend your brother for being athletic despite the extra body fat. If there is a single thing I can recommend, it is to drop sugar from his diet. I know that this one thing can be very hard, but that's my advice anyway.

drop the sugar and carbs and cut out ALL liquids except water(Drink alot of water) and I'd bet in 1 month, he loses at least 5lbs with that activity level. Oh also, get his ass in the weight room. Trust me bro, I've been there. If he's not losing weight, it's his diet. Clean it up. I mean go psycho nazi with the diet while still maintaining nutritional necessities and watch the flab melt off. That's IF he's as active as you say he is. Oh and NO BEER!!!! :blue:

haha, none of us drink don't worry about the beer.

I'll tell him to lay off the sugar, he drinks a shit load of powerade.

Also, he does workout, he's been working out since 8th grade, and he's pretty damn strong for a 15 year old.

Anyway thanks for the comments.

Well obviously he's not doing something right or he wouldn't be fat still. Maybe you should post his actual diet here so we can all see what he's eating, how much, etc. That would give a better idea of how good his diet is, more so than you just saying "he has a perfect diet" does.

I would suggest to go see a doctor to find out if there is something physicaly there. An injury is about 80% there before you feel it, and that includes internal.
Cutting out sugars and solid fats is also a great idea (as mentioned before).
You also have to give genetics their due. Genetics is the strongest thing going for or against you. I have two cousins who are brothers. One is extremely thin, the other obese. The obese ones works out more than the trim one. The problem that arised is the comparison. Everyone is different.
Lastly, I have trained people for about ten years. I have wroked on getting a Master's in Exercise Physiology, and am now working on a documentary about weight loss and dietary supplements. There is one conclusion that I have from all the research I have done. THEY DON'T WORK!!!!! I'm not sure if that came of too strong.
Americans spent $46.3 billion dollars last year in pills, potions and programs; and what happened to our society? It got fatter. An effective workout regime and a better diet is the only answer. You also have to make sure that he does not sneak behind your back to munch on stuff. I have clients that I catch all the time.
Good luck and let us know about your brother's progress in the future.

maybe hes got some kind of glandular thyroid problem? the fact he cannot lose weight with all of this exercise might be an indication of a serious health problem.

I agree. It might be a good idea to get a blood test done that includes TSH, free T3, and free T4 although the fact that his energy level is apparently high is perhaps (I'm not sure) a good sign that the thyroid isn't a problem.

But since he drinks a shitload of PowerAid, then that by itself adds quite a few calories and spikes the insulin, making it difficult to loose weight. Eliminating the sugars can make a hell of a difference. A bit more extreme is the low-carb diet, which doesn't have a good rep around here, but I actually think that some people have an easier time sticking to a low-carb diet than just a low-sugar diet.

i can speak from experience i was a fat ass in highschool and strong as shit. i was the strongest kid in the county out of 4 high scholls. until i got to college i could really loose weight. i would work out everyday and some times of the year like spring i would be known to go twice a day. just tell him to keep it up i have dropped a good bit and i am still working no where near where i need to be but i can deff. see improvments. so just keep getting strong and in time the weight will trim if he eats and works right. the biggest thing that helped me was when i got to college and started playing i worked harder and ate better. i never thought i could work harder than i did in high school but you know and i know college game and speed changes your whole world. GOOD LUCK!!!!
