Anything over a 30-40 degree incline is more shoulders than pecs, and unfortunately any gym I've ever trained at the benches for barbell incline press were set way above, like 60+ degrees. So I like to use dumbells, so I can just grab a flat bench, and throw some plates under it to create just the right angle

use both the barbell and dumbbell

drop the smith press

the barbell is great for putting max weight on.
the dumbbells are great if you are working alone and for working stabilizer muscles.

I used DB' cause my gym does;nt have a n incline and I'm not a fan of the smtih macihne since it allows your stablizers to get lazy.

Hammer Strength
Smith
DB

I workout alone, if I had a partner I'm sure the order would change slightly.

Dumbells definately.

But when i go heavy i struggle to clean them off the floor at start up. Anyone else have this problem???

Any suggestions? I train alone btw.

oh...that could be a hinderance...I see a lot of guys able to get the weight to their knees then kick their legs up to get the weight up to the right level...
