I put 2 teaspoons in my workout drink. I'm not really convinced that it is all that helpful or cost effective since I use whey protein before I train and it contains a lot of BCAA's.
Hey Omega, whats up bro. I totally overlooked that fact. I take two tablespoons GPlenish with my post workout shake. So maybe I'll just take some pill form BCAAs right before my workout. To be honest, I already ordered them, so I might as well try them somehow!! I doubt I would notice any real difference though.
Trev, I remember reading somewhere that the BCAAs you ingest in pill form are somehow better digested than those found in whey and other proteins. Probably marketing bs.........but I guess it kinda worked on me!
I was flipping through an issue of the International Journal of Sports Nutrition the other day and I saw a study that concluded that increasing amino acid intake was beneficial to bodybuilders. Unfortunately, I can't remember the specifics like "how much."
I believe Charles Polquin is big on BCAA's supplementation. He's recomendation is like .4g / kg bodyweight. In fact i've been experimenting with his idea's. Here is what i've been doing it add loving. You'll never be sore again. Plus i've added some serious size.
Start drinking 15min before workout and continue until about 1/2 way through
1 Liter Gatorade
20g BCAA's
20g Glutamine
30min Following workout
150g Dextrose
50g Hydrolyzed Whey Protein
20g BCAA'S
20g Glutamine
5g Creatine
10IU Humulin R
