Why bake gear??

I am starting to like this site injection stuff. Only problem is I want to add more oil into each spot. I dont have any synthol at the moment so I was woundering if vegie or sesime oil would work. If so then why bake it?? Would the ba in the actually gear kill off any bacteria?

j/k, seriously though, you bake it to make sure it's clean and sterile, and you'll also want to filter it too. Unless you're adding BA though, you'll be diluting the concentration of BA in your gear, perhaps (depends on the gear) to a low enough level where it wouldn't be as high as one would like to be sure nothing will grow in it. I have no idea how low this would be. But if I where you, I'd bake it, filter it, and add 5% BA. None of this is very hard or expensive, it would be the prudent thing to do. Not worth getting an infection.

I say 5%ba should do the trick but what do I know.....just looking for some opinions.
