Why Split Test Dosages?

If I wanted to do 500mg of Test E a week, why would i need to split it into two 250mg pins? Would it be just as safe and effective for 1 pin of 500mg every week?

Your blood serum test levels would not remain as stable. If they could, then you could just take 1 2,000 ml shot a month and get the same results this is not the case. Molecules have a certain half-life; ie-it takes X amount of time for your blood levels to reach half of the amount that they were when they were injested.

For example, lets say a compound has a half life of 7 days and you take 100 mg's. By day 7, you would only have 50mg's left floating around. But if you took 50mg's on day 1 and 50mg's on day 4, then by day seven you would still have around 75mg's left in your system. So more frequent pinning (with any ester in all truthfullness, not just the short esters) leads to more stable and consistent blood levels of the given injested compound. This helps to maximize gains and minimize side effects.

On another note, somebody on another board posted a graph comparing blood levels of a long estered test (cyp) when administered every other day as compared to twice per week and it showed that the EOD injections actually led to a much more stable blood level. So, if you really want to be a stickler about it, you benefit from more frequent injections, even if it is a long ester.
