Why wouldn't Meridia work for me?

BOMBSHELL
I did quite a bit of research on sibutramine (Meridia) and decided that it would probably be the best thing to try before getting into AAS. I got the 10mg. capsules through a good friend of mine who apparently got them through a guy he uses often. He was very confident that they would work because he makes his own Meridia...at this point in time I'm unsure if thats a good or bad thing. They don't seem to be working and I've been on them for about a week...one capsule in the morning as suggested.

I'm not overweight or obese by all means, but LOVE to eat. I eat pretty damn clean and I'm very adament on working out every day, but always seem to be hungry! I was real excited about the meridia thinking it was going to be my savior.

I'm confused as to why they aren't working and what I should do. Should I try 15 mg. capsules? Any advice from you ladies would be great! Please help! :wallbash:

It is good that you decided to try Meridia before AAS....but what are you goals? Are you looking to gain muscle or lose weight? Meridia is meant for appetite suppresion.

I wouldn't trust homemade Meridia. I've never even heard of anybody making their own.

I also don't think one week is long enough.....give it more time....at least 2-3 more weeks. You aren't being patient enough.

I'm also curious as to your workout regime and diet.......perhaps that is part of the reason you aren't getting results. Patience is vital when wanting results.

One last thing......are you only supposed to take 1 pill each day? That seems low.

My goals are to lose bodyfat...I don't want to gain any muscle at all to be honest. I'm very muscular as it is and actually wouldn't be upset if I lost some of it haha

workouts consist of weights about 3 times a week and at least 45 min. of cardio 6 days a week. (I take sunday off)

Diet is either a protein shake or plain oatmeal(1 cup) with cinnamon and splenda and egg whites. Lunch is a salad with grilled chicken or possibly a chicken breast with sweet potato and a veggie(lima beans, brocc.). I will have another shake after workout. Dinner is usually same as lunch...and if I'm hungry I'll drink a shake for a snack.

and yes one pill a day- actually it specifies to absolutely NOT take more than one...

so I'm not too sure what could be the problem...I've read some other forums and girls were saying that the pill started working for them after about three days. Apparently they are very overweight according to their stats which could possibly show affects sooner. Any help???

I'm wondering if you are eating enough. I suggest at least one more vegetable serving, and definately more essential fats. Udo's oil, olive oil, nuts, nut butters, etc. You need some of those for fat loss.

When you do cardio make sure that you do some HIIT in there.....that helps with body fat loss. I don't think you need quite so much cardio. Less cardio that is more intense is more effective. Maybe cut it to 4 or 5 days a week. If your body isn't resting and recouperating properly, then you won't lose fat.

As for those other women being very overweight......that is probably why they saw results so early. Definately wait it out. I don't think one week is long enough.

Thanks Miss Muscle for the suggestions...hopefully someone else will hop in on this discussion and give their thoughts as well...

So more high intensity interval training and more veggies. That makes sense...and as for the fats I get them from fish. Instead of chicken I switch it to fish(salmon and mahi mahi) and a male bodybuilder friend of mine said orange ruffy(spelling) was pretty good too. But you are right, I need more fats...

I will let you know how it goes. THANKS AGAIN!!!! Feel free to add anything else

Meridia isn't anything special or else it would be a much bigger deal. My speculation is that it is mostly useful for ppl with a severe obsession for eating constantly. That is, these people don't eat because they are hungry but because of other mental issues, probably relating to obsessive compulsive disorder and the like.

And just for clarification, Meridia powder isn't made in anyone's home. It is simple capped at somebody's home.

thanks mranak...I never thought of that. Yes I definitely don't have an obsession nor do I have OCD but I am ALWAYS hungry. It makes it hard for me to keep my calories low and most importantly portion my food when I eat.

Do you know something else I may try; as long as it doesn't affect my heart rate because I have pretty bad anxiety. I developed anxiety when my father died a year ago. It really freaks me out to take stuff that increases my heart rate.

and yes...I suppose he didn't "make" it himself...he just capped it in plain white capsules himself. Why is that though?

I never feel full, but I'll at least stop eating when my stomach starts to hurt.

I'm going to have to defer the 'other options' question to others that have the experience.

Since I'm not very good at controlling the quantity of what I eat, I do try and emphasize what I eat. Hard to go wrong with protein and vegatables. It isn't a hot fudge Sunday, but I can't complain about not getting enough to eat.

As for the capsules....the source apparently received powder instead of pills. The powder came from a generic manufacturer ... even for drugs on patent, there are companies around the world copying the drugs, anyway. So he had powder but everyone prefers a capsule rather than having to weigh out each individual dosage. Capsules are much nicer than straight powder or even an oral solution or suspension.

haha well yes I stop eating when my stomach hurts but jesus, I think I could eat a cow before my stomach started to hurt!! Its really quite disturbing. I eat more than all my guy friends!

I'm gonna stick with the meridia and see what happens. Hopefully I'll feel some of the affects of it soon- and as for hot fudge sundays I don't get the pleasure of eating those either. I'm a pretty clean eater I just suck at portion control!!!

Thanks mranak

My wife is using Meridia and she dropped like 10 lbs, Meridia also cut her cravings in half. She doesn;t est that much during the day, so for her Meridia has worked just fine and with no sides at all..also I think she said it took about 3 weeks for it to kick in.. Hope this helps

When I start to get hungry but know I shouldn't eat, I chew gum. Alot of it. I always have the freshest breath!!!! :)

dangsguns...thank you for telling me about your wife. This gives me much hope. I'm glad she's had success with it. 10lbs sounds like an ideal amount of weight loss for me..so I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hope I'm as lucky as your wife.

and Miss Muscle thats a great idea- I love gum, can't life without it!! That reminds me...I forgot to pick up some at the store....

:) Thanks you guys
