If I interpreted your question correctly, I would say that the following exercises are the best for achieving more width:

- chinups
- pulldowns

Also rowing movements and deadlifts should be in any back routine, because these exercises are vital for maximum back development.
Train heavy, and visualize pulling with your elbows instead of your hands. This makes sure you use your back muscles more than your biceps.
Also, use straps for the heavy sets, this aids in maintaining tension in the back and preventing that you can't go to absolute failure without your forearms or biceps giving out first.
