you can use a slin pin even for the IM injections but either of those would work as well

I am new to this and I have read that 5/8" needles work, was wondering if I could still do subcutaneous injections with 1" needles.

You can try doing SubQ with 1". If you go to far you will be injecting into the interstice, it wouldn't be the end of the world. The smart thing would be to get some skin pins. They are cheaper and better for SubQ and as mentioned above work well for IM

Just go to your local pharmacy and ask for insulin pins. They've even given me some for free when I asked in the past.

My pharmacy won't give out needles. None of them give out needles, that I went to, unless you have a prescription for a med that needs a needle.

RMost states now have laws that say you don't need a script for needles trying to stop the spread of disease from iv illicit drug users. In pa i could buy them but all pharmacies carry here is insulin syringes no IM

injection with a one inch is okay. when your injecting you don't need to put the needle all the way in. that's any needle bro. most time when im injecting my pt's with im or sq I don't push the needle in all the way its not necessary to bottom out.


edit= slin pins come with the needle on them. some sq are premade also, but to say doing a sq with anything but a slin pin in wrong, is incorrect. it is dose dependent. I give sq regularly in the hospital with larger syringes. slin pins hold 1 ml max.
