Will I lose gains at first?

Musclebound bookworm..
Maybe you can help settle my mind a little.. I have been on a 3-day a week full body routine for about six months now and have been seeing some pretty solid gains. My question is, everyone seems only to train a body part once a week so I have been thinking of switching to a similiar routine I would just like to know if at first will I lose gains in size and strength before I gain them?? I really don't want to lose any gains I have made.

No in fact you may be overtrained and may have just the opposite effect, work with intensity and you should do ok--what does your program look like that is obviously important in whether or not you will continue to have success.

If he was overtrained, he would know it. Anyway, as long as you can keep increasing the weight you are using, there is no reason you would lose gains from switching routines.

Well I just thought my gains would increase if I could workout with greater intensity and give my muscles longer to rest. However if for some reason I skip a day of the current routine I am on I always notice I lose a little strength. So i was wondering if only training each muscle once a week would result in any loss of strength or mass. I also just want to switch things up a little.

Sure you can lose a little size if you drop the workload - especially if you were on a volume routine. Even so I dont think applies to you at all. Are you squatting, pulling and benching? Doing all that 3 times a week is too much for anyone. It takes a while to finetune any routine but dont get too caught up on 2lbs here and there whether on the bar or on the scale. Read up and quit worrying. :p
