Worst possible thing happened today

Went to the docs today, have had a pain and slight bulge just above my belly button.... Guess I have a hernia. Right now there isn't much pain just when I sit up. Guess that's what my dumbass gets from being moncho. Just wondering has anyone els dealt with this? Did u have surgery? Still train? Thanks guys.

Ya thats an umbilical hernia!! Lame!! Ya ive had one about 5 years ago, went for surgery, i wasnt very mobile for 2 weeks due to pain and extreme bloating in my torso area, i waited about a month to start lifting again, doctor said 6 weeks but i like to push things lol. But you need to get that fixed brother as it will not fix itself and if it get bad enough and starts to protrude, you run a risk of it constricting and then that becomes a serious issue as it can fill with blood and burst. That is worst case scenario of course and your situation does sound anywhere near this. But ya youll be fine and recover no problem but go get that fixed as soon as you can man.

Hey thanks for the reply. Think I should skip tomorrow's pin and start my pct in two weeks?

Yea def cut cycle short and start pct in 2 weeks. I had one in 2008 if you keep lifting it'll only get worse needs surgery like shred said already. Pain the 1st 3 days after surgery is really intense, but it gets better fast after that. 6 weeks later you should be able to start back slowly

I don't think that's the worst possible thing that could happen. It's a hernia not AIDS. Get it fixed, recover then keep lifting.

A trainer buddy of mine had surgery and he kept training like normal. He took a rubber ball and weight training belt and put the ball over the surgical wound to keep pressure on it with the belt. He's recovered 100% now.

Interesting, id be a lil nervous of the internal stitches breaking with that pressure on them

You probably could keep training but definetly not at max effort.

Hmm, I'd take a hernia over being prengnant any day. :spin: That would probably be the worst thing possible. :D (or AIDS as pointed out above)

You might be able to take it easy and see if it will return to it's normal location with some coaxing like I was able to do many years ago, but surgery might be in your future. Sorry to hear about your injury man.

Yea I saw "worst possible thing" in your title and a lot worse possible things than a repairable hernia popped into my mind. Sucks though, wish you the best.

I had an umbilical hernia as well many years ago, had it surgically repaired with a simple suture procedure, no mesh. If the hernia is less than 2-3 cm I would elect for suture to close it, but if the hole is larger, say more than 3-4 cm, then consider a mesh-based procedure. My suture procedure has held up great these past 7 years, with lots of heavy lifting!

I had to go with the mesh. I let mine go a year or two. Umbilical hernias are quite common and don't have as many serious complications as hernias in other places. For that reason, if I were the OP I might consider just YOLOing and finish out the cycle as planned, then have the surgery.

The mesh is a great product, very strong. Go to a hospital or surgery center with low infection rates tho. Just look up the local facilities on the Internet.
