Wraps

What do you think about wraps, I personally don't use them because I would rather have to hold on to the bar doing shrugs or deads myself.

After I do deads I find my forearms are absolutely dead and sore the next day.

Right now I finish deads with 405x3, and 420x1.

I could easily do more weight thats not that problem, On a good day I weigh 182lbs. Im finding that I just cant hold on for more reps. Do you think it would make more sense to get wraps and do more weight or continue doing what Im doing, I like the idea of strengthening my grip and forearms though.

Anyone use chalk and how much does that help? Usually I just try to find some dust around the gym as that seems to help a little.

on deads i start using wraps once i pass 315. it allows me to concentrate on the weight. remember ur doing deads for ur lower back n to build size not ur grip.my deads were at 405 for 10 now im at 405 for 6 but im sure ill surpas 10 in a week or two once the test kicks in. for ur weight thats good deads though. form in deads is everything to sink n push from the hips exploding up then 3/4 through allowing ur back to take over.my goal is to get beastly inhumanly huge to do that i need heavy weights im not gonna allow my grip to hold me back.

Ive never taken anything by the way, Im natural. Thats true about doing it for back tho not for grip, as common sense as it seems I guess I really think of it that way.

Have you ever used talcon powder? I think thats what its called.

talcum powder

I am personally going to buy a pair of wraps. I feel the same way as inhuman. When I shrug anything over 315, my grip starts to go after like 6-8 reps, and it's annoying because my traps could easily keep going. I don't find I have this problem with deadlifting, though, probably because I'm only doing 5 reps on my sets.

yea powder is good i actually used powder for bench before n got better sets. i know wierd but i think it just gives u better grip allowing muscles to connect n fire off better. natural thats good yea my training partner is all natural n only weighs 195lbs n his lifts r crazy have to b he has to keep up with me. phluxx get those grips it really helps so u can better hit those muscles ur targetting.

Thanks for the input guys, Im going to pick up some powder and wraps.

Start with the powder and see how much it helps, I know some gyms dont let you use it so hopefully mine will. If not Ill try out the wraps and see how I like it.

Ill let you guys know how it goes if your interested.

Good advice bro......

Used the wraps on deads for the first time yesterday.

I think they helped but the material sucks. It hurts like a bitch and cut the shit out of my wrists. Its almost like a velcro material.

When you guys use wraps are your traps and lats ever wicked sore after? mine are so much more sore then they usually are. I dont mind being sore at all, just wondering.

I got 365x5 and 405x3. I still could have done more with 405 if the wraps wernt digging my wrists up so bad.

Any suggestions? theyr harbinger wraps.
What kind do you guys use?

I've never used wraps and never wanted to. When doing 5x5 of 350 lbs for Deadlifts I was able to hold on to the bar with no problem as I use the under/over hand grip. I do wonder now with wraps could I have been doing more. I know for Rear Calve Raises and Rear Shoulder Shrugs I fight to hold the bar more and know it is my grip that is the reason for not lifting as much. I find for these the over/under does not work for me. I am curious and may give it a try.

Thats why I started trying them. I can do 365 for the 5x5 but when I got to around 405 I couldnt hold on

I need them on deads when i get over 500lbs. Mostly because i pull sumo style with a double overhand grip and it slips out too easy. When i pull conventional i use alternating grip and my grip is pretty equal to what i can pull.

lift what you can hold w/o straps and then do your heaviest sets with them if you need them. anything over 475 and i need them if doing reps of 3 or more. i also go double overhand until i can't hold it, then over under, then straps.
